Golf GPS Reviews

I don't know about you, but I'm a real golf nut. Hence this hub on golf GPS reviews. The problem is I don't get to play nearly as much as I would want what with family, kids, work, etc. As a result my game never used to get any better. So, instead of buckling down and working on my game the old fashioned way, I wanted to find at least something that could help...immediately.

Thus started my love affair with golf GPS devices!

Just so you know, I'm by no means an expert. Just a guy who loves to golf and who also loves gadgets. So, I started looking into the various golf GPS devices that were on the market. And as a result of all of this, I decided to write a few golf GPS reviews.

Callaway uPro Golf GPS

Up above this box you see pictured the Callaway uPro Golf GPS. This is one of my favorite golf GPS devices. What's so cool about the Callaway uPro is the graphics. It gives you an aerial view of the hole, plus can tell you visually where you are on the fairway. Where does it get this information? You download courses. You pay for that, but it's dirty cheap. Right now a course costs about $10 to download. If you go for more downloads, it start's getting cheaper. $40 for five courses.

Actually, I don't golf when I travel, so I only needed to download two courses. Of course, it holds more. You do this with your computer on their site. It's really easy to do.

Next, I want to tell you about one of the other golf GPS devices that I looked into.

Sky Caddie SG5 Golf GPS

Sky Caddie SG5 Golf GPS

The next golf GPS I want to talk about is the Sky Caddie SG5 golf GPS. I liked the Sky Caddie, but honestly not as much as the Callaway uPro. Sky Caddie has what they call Intelligreen technology. Now, I'm not sure that's a real technological invention, but more of a marketing name. Either way, as you can see in the picture the Sky Caddie shows you the green and also gives you distances. The graphics can't compare with the Callaway uPro, though. The Sky Caddie is cheaper. So, if money's an issue, this is much, much better then nothing.

One thing the Sky Caddie can do that the other golf GPS devices I'm reviewing can't do is you can use it to actually map a course that's not downloaded. This is not hard to do and doesn't take much time.

Garmin Approach Golf GPS

Garmin Approach Golf GPS

My favorite golf GPS was the Garmin Approach. I'm a real fan of Garmin's automotive GPS devices, so I think I'm naturally biased toward Garmin. Garmin has a reputation for solid, cutting-edge technology and it shows on the Approach.

The Approach has lots of graphics like the Callaway, but one great thing is it comes pre-loaded with thousands of courses, just like their car GPS systems. I probably liked the graphics on the Callaway uPro better, but I loved Garmin's user interface. It works like an iPhone!

I'm not saying the other two golf GPS systems are not good. They are! You make up your own mind which one or ones you like. Because I got so excited about all of this, I started a blog, Best Golf GPS Reviews where you can learn more!
