The Golf Grip

Golf Equipment

Many beginners start playing golf with an inexpensive, and unmatched set of culbs but if you have reached the stage of being reasonably good and are trying to break 90,then it is time you upgrade your golf equipment !! it does not mean going out and buying the most expensive golf clubs you find - far from it.

What it dose mean is buying a set of golf clubs that suits you.In recent years technology has improved golf club performance, and most golf stores have a stock of trial clubs you can test before you buy.The following advice should help you to look for a new set of golf clubs..

Which Golf Clubs Are Right For You?

Swing Weight

Swing weight is the system of measuring the balance of a golf club and how heavy the club feels when swung. The longer you play golf the stronger you will become and so you can play with slightly heavier golf clubs than which you started playing golf.Guard against playing with clubs that are too heavy. When you try out a club,it may be when you are feeling good and fresh so remember that towards the end of a round of golf you may begin to feel a bit weary, and the clubs may start to feel too heavy, causing you to lose control of the clubs.

Club Head

There are two main shapes of a golf club head for irons, these being blade and peripherally weighted. The blade is the original shaped head where the weight is distributed fairly evenly. The blade-type head has a small optimum area of strike known as the sweet spot!! Blade golf clubs are best used by lower-handicap golfer or golf professional, who likes the feel and the look of this type of golf club.

The peripherally weighted golf club is much larger giving the less consistent higher-handicap golfer a much better chance of hitting the ball in the middle of the club so it can be described as a more forgiving golf club so the best advice is when buying clubs go for peripherally weighted ones which all manufacturers now have. You can also buy woods that offer similar advantage. Those that have heel and toe weighting and have an enlarged sweet spot.

SHAFT FLEX

The Main Shaft flex available are( men,s regular) (ladies regular) (men,s Stiff) and XS (men,s extra stiff) each one being more stiffer than the last. The lighter the swing weight the more flexibel the shaft today there are so many new shaft materials being used such as boron and graphite which are designed to help all golfer hit the golf ball further. These are more expensive than the steel shafts but if distance is one the factors you are lacking in your golf game then the invesment is worth it.

GOLF GRIPS

The two main grip thicknesses are ladies' and men's, the former being thinner than the latter. However, many companies make a greater variety of grip widths, and you can always have an additional layer of adhesive tape under the grips to make them thicker. So what is the importance of the grip thickness? Ideally when your left hand closes around the dub, the tips of the middle two fingers should be quite close to the pad at the base of the thumb, which should enable you to have good control. Someone who slices may be using grips that are too thick, thereby preventing free hand action through impact. A player who hooks the ball could find that slightly thicker grips will stabilize over-active hands. Remember, however, that if you should alter your grip thickness, thinner grips make a club feel heavier to swing, whilst thicker grips will have the opposite effect. Always:,keep your grips clean by washing them regularly with soapy water to keep them grease-free, and, if necessary, rough them up using sandpaper or a file. Grips do not last for ever, and once they become shiny and feel hard, then you will have to grip tightly to keep control, which will inevitably restrict good hand action. So if your grips reach this sad condition, then the time has come to have them re-gripped.

Golf Equipment :Which Number Clubs To Buy.

If you buy a set of clubs, this can consist of 9 or 10 irons, and 3 or 4 woods, plus a putter. Most off-the-shelf sets consist of 3 irons, sand iron, driver 3, and 5 wood. Very often you will have to buy the pomplete set of irons, but may not have to buy all three woods. In which case I recommend the clubs you should carry are 4 iron to sand wedge (leave the 3 iron indoors) and a 3 and 5 wood. My reasoning for this choice is based on the fact that the less lofted clubs, such as the 3 iron and driver, are more difficult to hit well. Their lack of loft means that the ball is contacted near its equator and thus more sidespin is imparted. This means that a slice or hook is accentuated. The 3 wood has more loft than the driver, and will enable you quite adequately to hit the ball far enough off the tee. Likewise, a 3 iron has little loft, and unless ypu can hit yours consistently well, I recommend that you either leave It out of the bag, or include it only incase you need to hit a low shot under a tree. You would be better served by using the 5 wood, and women especially would benefit from using a 7 wood (roLighly equivalent to a 3 or 4 iron) which many companies now make. Each of these lofted woods is also so useful out of the rough when distance is needed. If you do insist on buying or using a driver, be sure that it . has at least 12 degrees of loft - anything less will be very difficult to hit consistently well. Ideally all players who are endeavouring to break 90, shou!d steer away from the less lofted clubs, settle for more consistent accuracy, and do not be fooled into thinking that you have to hit a driver off every tee because your friends do. If their ability enables them to use this club consistently, then that is fine, but if you analyse their round, you may well find that their driver gets them into trouble too often. It is better to sacrifice 1°or 15 yards in distance, in order to be consistently on the fairway. When choosing a putter, I would also recommend a heel and tqe weighted model, which, like the irons and woods, will have a bigger sweet spot. Again there are many to choose from, so pick one that lies with its base on the ground and trat is the correct length for you.

Golf Tip On SLICE SHOTS

The Ball curves to the right - Slice

The most dreaded shot in golf is the slice. If you slice the golf ball you are not alone. Some of you may be able to hit with power, but it doesn't do you any good if you slice the golf ball off the fairway or green into the trees or bunker on the right.  The problem is not getting the clubface square to the golf ball at impact, leaving the face open which results in the ball curving to the right. A golf ball that has a left to right spin on it is a Slice!! At impact you want the clubface to be closing in order to hit the ball straight or with a draw. With a slice however, the clubface is open at impact. Because of the open clubface at impact, this will cause the golf ball to spin from left to right.Anytime the golf ball curves from left to right you are losing distance and accuracy.  I am going to give you a great tip that will stop your slice immediately.   After you address the golf ball take a peak down at your left hand grip. If you see less than two or three knuckles you will have to turn your left hand over to the right. Do not forget to move the right hand to the right also so the palms are facing each other. The second tip is to make sure you hold the club as gentle as you can. Two or three knuckles of the left hand and hold on gently so the ball will curve left and not right. That will Possible Fix the problem. Slicing a golf ball is just one problem. There is a very good chance that you may have a problem with your backswing or downswing that could be causing the problem.    A fade(right to left) is an acceptable ball flight. If you can control a fade and you are pleased with the results, stay with it.

Golf Joke

The Perfect Golf Shot- Sam stood over his tee shot on the 350 yard 18th hole for what seemed an eternity. He waggled, looked up, looked down, waggled again, Ii' but didn't start his back swing. Finally his exasperated partner asked, "What in the world is taking so long?" "My wife is watching me from  the clubhouse balcony, " Sam explained. "I want to make a perfect shot. " His companion exclaimed. "You don't have a chance in hell of hitting her from here!!

Getting Your Hands Through the Ball at Impact

Have you ever thought about what your hands and forearms are actually doing at the moment of impact? If not, please give this a try because it's one of the most important parts of the swing.Try to get into the impact position, like you are about to make solid contact with the ball. Now flip your trailing wrist like you were casting a fishing pole. This is referred to as a wrist break, and it's not a move that you want to make in golf. So if you are trying to "flip" your hands through the ball at impact, this tip may help you understand the correct way to make this happen.  If you put a wrist watch on you'll be able to visualize the correct moves to make. As your leading arm approaches impact the watch face should be getting close to pointing exactly down the target line, or to the flag. Now simply ROTATE the watch face so it's pointed at the ground. With a club in your hands, you'll see that this move makes your trailing wrist and forearm "flip" on top of your leading wrist and forearm.  You also see that this will help to "close" the face of your club nicely, that will both reduce your slice, and add distance. This is the correct move to be completing through impact.  It's important to note that your forearms should be working together as well. Try to keep your forearms as close to each other as possible through the impact zone. If you can master this move, you'll find increased distance and it will also do wonders for your slice.

Callaway Golf clubs

Callaway Golf clubs

At present, there are six classifications of the Callaway Golf club. The first classification is the drivers which are comprised of two models which are the Big Bertha Fusion FT4 and Big Bertha Titanium 454. The next classification of Callaway golf club is called the Fairway Woods. Fairway Woods have three types of clubs which are Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods, Big Bertha Titanium Fairway Woods, and Big Bertha Fairway Woods. The next classification of the Callaway golf club is a hybrid which is designed for long and distant shots. The model for this type of Callaway golf club is called Big Bertha Heavenwood Hybrids. The next classification is called irons which are divided into five types of models and these are Big Bertha, Big Bertha Fusion, X-Tour, X-18, and X-18 Pro. Another classification of the Callaway golf club would be the wedges and the model here is called Forged+ Wedges. The last classification for Callaway golf club is called the Putters. The Putters have two models in its classification which are Callaway golf I-Trax Putter and tour Blue.  Callaway Golf  is headed by Ely Callaway. He bought half of Hickory Stick USA and renamed it Callaway Hickory Stick USA. After purchasing it, he decided to hire the best people that would be an instrument in supporting his dream of Callaway golf club. He hired Richard C. Helmstetter to be the Chief Club Designer and this as others would say is the point of no return. The designs for Callaway golf club are truly revolutionary and innovative which is why the Callaway golf club is dubbed as the type of golf club that is unique and also high-performance kind golf equipment. After that, Ely Callaway renamed his company into Callaway Golf and then relocated from Cathedral City, California to a sleepy seaside town called Carlsbad, which is just north of San Diego. The classification and models of Callaway Gold Club mentioned above are the ones that the firm manufactures. All of these models were made in the lieu with science, research, and practice. All of these models are worth a try and who knows? You might be the next Tiger Woods in the world of golf.

I Love The Game of Golf

I think I love the game of golf so much because I see it as the ultimate challenge.  There is always room for improvement.  For example, this upcoming season, I have the goal to truly focus my efforts on course management and playing the smart shot instead of the fun shot.  It requires planning, focus, and restraint.  It requires playing to the middle of more greens vs. going for the sucker pins, and hitting the 3-wood off the tee instead of the driver on narrow fairways.

What are your golf goals for this upcoming season?

Is it to hit the ball further, to start getting better contact, or to stop getting down on yourself on the course?  Could be anything really, as long as you work on making progress towards the goal.

It is my belief that in this game, the goal itself isn't as important as just having a goal and the motivation to meet that goal.  That's truly how you improve in this game.

Become The Best Golfer You Can Be

The great thing about golf is that you can improve your game and
shoot lower scores in so many different ways.

Some players hit the ball really far and rely on their distance
while some don't hit the ball that far but you could place a blanket
over a bucket of their 5 irons.

Some players spray it all over the course yet have great short
games which enable them to save their pars and some guys seem to
always make that round saving putt.

To become the best golfer you can be, it is important that you
practice all the aspects of the game. Each area of your game that
you improve will enhance your improvement and you will see faster
development.

Eventually all these different areas come together and your success
in this game starts to snowball.

So stop banging ball after ball on the range and start becoming a
well rounded player by following this plan:

    *

When you're practicing your full swing on the range, always
have a target that you are aiming at and put some pressure on
yourself. On the course you can't drop another ball,
so make each shot count.
    *

Learn your true distances for each club, most players base
their distances off of their best shots, and some players even
have no real clear idea on how far they hit each club.
Distance control is imperative if you wish to shoot low scores.
Everybody misses left and right, but if your distance is correct
you won't be too far off.
    *

Practice hitting different types of shots, learn how to
intentionally hit the ball high and low, learn to hit a planned
fade or a draw. Getting close to a lot of pins requires different
types of shots, if you don't have them, you'll be putting from 40+
feet all the time.
    *

Build a solid short game. Even if you can't hit the ball 300
yards, ANYBODY can have a short game that rivals that of the pros.
All it takes is a solid understanding of the techniques to hit
different types of shots, and then a whole load of practice.
Escaping out of the sand is much easier than bogey golfers make
it out to be, but there are a few integral things you must
understand before you even hit the shot. The same with chipping
and pitching.
    *

Putting takes up at least half the amount of strokes you
will take during the course of a round. Anybody can learn how to
lag the ball close to the hole and sink all of their putts from
inside 3 feet, and 75% from 4-6 feet.
    *

Learn how to think your way around the golf course in a manner
which optimizes your chance for success and the lowest score
possible over the long term.

The Correct Golf Club

When you are choosing the right golf clubs for your game, it is important to keep your skill level in your mind. If you want to make at a specific moment in a game you have to always think about getting the correct golf club for the situation.

Getting the correct golf club means choosing from the woods, the irons or the putters as the main club categories. You must be familiar with when you should use them all and why it is so important you do so. Experienced golf players usually don’t have any difficulty in getting the accurate golf club without a flash of an eye, but for beginners, it’s difficult. They need to be sure that they are getting the correct golf club for the better result and game. After all, this is part of the golf playing tricks beginners and professionals identify the same.

When you play for the long distance shots the Wood Headed club is the right selection. Getting the correct golf club under the conditions is necessary because this usually works as the driver; the woods are the longest clubs and with the biggest of heads. If you are hitting from turf which requires high golfing skills if you choose the woods, you should be getting the correct golf club for that type of situation.

Irons have three categories according to their length - shortest being known as wedges. They are usually used for shorter shots particularly when approaching the green. We should mention that getting the correct golf club may get the most experienced player out to rely on very flexible shots and the irons are usually the alternative. Although, many golfers now prefer the combined types wood and iron when it comes to getting the correct golf club. After that move toward the hybrid woods that also serve the purpose of getting the proper golf club when on very rough situation.

After all this you need the main club that you need when you getting on the green are Putters. Though many say that getting the correct golf club on the green is not so important, it is worthwhile to stick to the clubs that where specifically intended for the theme. Getting the correct golf club is sometimes a matter of personal choice and many professionals choose to follow their impulse, nonetheless.

It doesn’t matter what style or deviation of club type you choose, you just need to make sure that which clubs you choose is the right selection for you only. You are going to be the one playing with these clubs, so you have to be satisfied with them. If they feel good to you and are pleasing to the eye, then they can help you with your psychological game as well.

Putting a few more times

Whenever nobody is behind you and you finish up a green,
you should be putting a few more times to get the feel,
speed and read of the greens of that round. Again, within
the rules.

Golf Etiquette

Golf Etiquette: Good Manners Equals Good Golf
When you think about it, golf is one of the most well -mannered sports in the world. Nobody is ever going to see Tiger Woods hipcheck one of his opponents on the fifth hole. Greg Norman probably never ran after anyone with his club held over his head. Nobody gets called any variety of body part or farm animal just as they bend their head to tee up. The game is quiet, almost tranquil, without the finger pointing, name calling or chair swinging of other sports. Even for the beginning golfer, learning golf etiquette is just as important as learning the other rules and scoring is.
One of the most basic etiquette rules begins before you even tee up that very first shot. Find out about the dress code of the course that you are playing at, and try to adhere to it as closely as possible. Make sure that you know what kind of shoes you should be wearing cleated or not. If you are using a golf cart, make sure that you park far enough away that you will not impede other golfers, or better yet, walk the course.  Next, you should know that during each player's tee shot, there is no talking to allow for supreme concentration.  Don't stand in someone's line of vision, and leave your cell phone at the clubhouse or set it to vibrate.
Pay attention to the game, even when it is not your turn, and be ready to play when it is your turn. Nobody wants to have to keep reminding an adult that it is their turn, nor do they want to stand around and wait while you get yourself situated and ready to go. You should be lining up your next shot, going over what you would like to do before you ever walk up to the tee.
Know who will play first, and the subsequent order thereafter for each hole. In most cases, the first player on a new hole is the one who had the lowest score on the last one. Of course, if there is a tie, then whoever had the lowest on the previous hole to that one is first.
Make sure that you know where everybody is, including all others who might be on the course around you. Not only do you have to see where your own group is, take a look around before rearing back and taking your swing. Also, be aware of the speed with which your group is playing. Are the folks behind you ready to declare war on you? If you are playing at a slightly slower speed than the group behind you, invite them to go ahead and play through to avoid holding them up unduly. In the same respect, if you find that you are behind a slower group, and they have not invited you to play through, then you should remain calm and polite without any semblance of trying to rush or hurry them.
And finally, do not tear up the course without making an effort at repairing the divots. Do not leave trash behind, nor allow any member of your group to do so. Be a responsible golfer.

Necessary Golf Equipment and Accessories

Once upon a time, golfers played the game with wooden clubs. In fact, steels shafts were not legalized in the United States until 1924. The problem with these wooden shafts was the difficulty of finding that many matching pieces of wood. Huge variations in the wood's shape or texture could throw a golfer off severely. Those days are gone now, and most people should not have a major issue with finding the right clubs for their body type, frame, height, strength and swing style.
If you are just a casual, or beginning golfer, you can walk into virtually any store at all and grab a bag of golf clubs without any further thought. If you are more serious, however, you will want to take the time to really figure out what the best type of club is for you, and for that determination you might need some professional help. Going to a store that has a golf pro that is trained to help you make the best choices. Do not allow yourself to be talked into the top of the line clubs if you have never played the game before, but do buy the best clubs that you yourself can afford.
If you had been playing with rental clubs and find that you had grown quite comfortable with them, use those as your starting point. Go into the store knowing what the length, shaft style, flex and brand name were of the rentals. If they are not available or you find that new ones are out of your price range, then ask for a comparable brand and style. Make sure that the clubs you finally settle on are the right fit, not only for your budget, but for your game as well. Discuss such concepts as grip and hand action, loft and clubhead size when choosing your clubs. If you do not understand any of these concepts then you definitely need some professional help.
Other equipment that you will need is: a bag to carry all of your clubs, balls, tees, a towel (or better yet, several towels), pencils for marking scores, and a method of identifying your bag amongst the crowd.
Accessories are those great little extras that no one really needs, but are kind of fun to have. These include fancy golf watches that keep your score for you, tripod tees for use in hard ground, and a rubber suction cup that will pull your ball from the hole so that you do not have to bend down. In other words, golfer toys!

Commit to it !

From here on out, once you decide on a club or a
specific shot. Don't look back. Commit to it. Confidence is
far more important according to all the golf psychologists
than making the "correct choice." Brad Faxon said: "It's
more important to be decisive than correct. As far as I'm
concerned if you're decisive, you are correct. The closer
to the hole, the more valuable that philosophy becomes"

putting

For putting, you can solve most of your problems with
this one tip: Always hold your finish. Hold your putter in
the air, pointing at the target after you stroke the ball.
If you do this, it is necessary that you had to have had a
smooth, controlled stroke and didn't jab at it. This is big
and it works for every putting style. Do it!

The Easiest Way to Draw the Ball

The Easiest Way to Draw the Ball" this is sure to make a lot of people very  happy.

I'll tell you right now... this is going to be painless, contrary to what you may think. I'll start with a single definition.

Level Shoulder turn - a turn that stays level with the ground (parallel to the ground) through the backswing.

So, now that we have that out of the way, let's continue on with this quick and easy tip to draw the ball. And if you've battled a slice for years upon years, just wait until you try this. The next time out to the range, your slice is going to be dramatically reduced.

Here it is. Instead of taking your normal shoulder turn (whatever that may be), focus on keeping your shoulder turn as level as possible (parallel to the ground). So as you are setting up to the ball, feel your feet on the ground to determine if there is an uphill or downhill lie. Then in your backswing, just focus on keeping your shoulders level to the ground.

Now, this may actually produce a HOOK of all things, so remember to adjust accordingly. And remember that you are attempting to wrap that club around your body. You want a horizontal swing plane, not vertical. That's what this level shoulder turn is really accomplishing. You'll find it so much easier to release through the ball correctly, and to square up the face of your club at impact.

Give that a try on your next trip to the range and you'll be amazed to see that dreaded slice going away!  I know this probably seems incredibly simple to anyone who has been battling a slice forever, but just remember that simple solutions are usually the most effective.

Warm Up Hitting Some Golf Balls On The Range

Always always warm up by hitting some balls on the range
before you start. Don't go through the usually-taught
routine of starting with your wedges and working your way
up to the driver. That's practicing.

Just do some stretches
and get a swing weight or use 2 clubs together to get your
muscles going. Then, hit shots on the range like you will
be playing on the course. Pretend you just got to the
course with no time for warmup and have to go straight to
the first tee. Get rid of those first few bad holes before
you get to the first tee.

Start right off with the club you will use off the first
tee, probably driver. Hit your next shot based on how well
you hit your first shot and what the hole demands. SIMULATE
ACTUAL PLAYING CONDITIONS on the range.

This is what you
would do if you showed up late right? And it takes a few
holes before you get to scoring well right? Doing the old
standard warmup routine of hitting 5 shots of each club is
nothing like you will be doing on the course. But this will
mentally prepare you to play!
