Good Begginer Taratulas
69 Tarantulas may not be for everyone. They are not for small children, arachniphobic people, people allergic to venom, and neglectful owners. They do come in many varieties that may be mildly too extremely venomous species. They can or cannot be easy-to-keep pets.I will list the ones that I have had success and are truley good pets.Tarantulas are usually low maintenance pets for exotics. It is very entertaining to know not too many people in your neighborhood own them.Get them while they are not extremely common pets still.
Rose Haired Tarantula
These are the most common type in the pet trade. They generally do not get ticked off unless you bllow on them.Try not to do this as they may lunge at your face or flick their hairs at you.A nice ten gallon tank works well for a female and a smaller five gallon for a male, although they may fare a lot better in ten gallons since the males are very active compared to the females.Use a small water bowl only a few millimeters high.Keep them at 70-80 degrees.Use a nice laver of substrate for burrowing,You may use wood shavings, wood chips,or any similar substrates. They are fairly easy to breed. In fact,I use to breed them when I was 11 years old. These are the ones that were in Home Alone.
Red Knee Tarantula
Red knee tarantulas are one of the prettiest tarantulas. They come from Mexico. These are not as mellow as the rosies, but are still pretty laid back. They raely bite you,but if they do,the bitten area may swell quite a bit. They are good burrowers and require more substrates for both males and females. Also include water.Keep the temperature in the higher eighties and mist daily. These are the beautifuul ones that covered Indy in Indiana Jones. They were probably diposed of later. What a waste of thousands of dollars.
Cinnamon Tarantulas
These are also called tan tarantulas. They look a bit like the Rose haired tarantulas. They are not very common, but are very docile. They require a small water bowl and daily misting.Temperatures of around 70 degrees will work.Any substrate usually works for them.
Pink Toe Tarantulas
These look rather cuddly in fact. They are a smaller species because they are arboreal. They are interesting as pets because they can actually live together. They can use any substrate.A vertical hollowed branch is a must .Misting and a water dish is a must. They need temperatures of eighty degrees is essential. They are absolutely the easiest tarantula to breed. Many accidental breedings occur when they are kept together.Unlike the adults, the young are sometimes canibals.
Goliath Bird Eater
These are the largest tarantulas in the world. They can be as large as dinner platters. These are for advanced begginners, not for extreme novices. They need a lagre aquarium with sustrate that is is five inches thick. They are not too bad in aggression, but are not easily handled because they particularly hate being held.A larger water dish and light misting three times a day will keep them happy. They eat large prey.
