Good Dogs for Kids
63Kids need to have pets, and dogs would be good pets for them. There are many types of dogs that can be chosen as a pet but not all of them are good for kids. Perhaps, you don’t want to get your kid a dog that will bite him or her with the slightest provocation but you definitely want to choose one that can become a friend for your child. Good dogs for kids can provide perfect companionship as well as act as a guard.
Good dogs are the ones that will not harm your kids but rather take care of them and your home when no one else is around. Dogs come in different breeds and some of the breeds can be harmful to children. Examples of good dog breeds for the kids are Labrador Retriever, Beagle, Golden Retriever and Basset Hound.
Kids need a dog that is gentle and not too big for them to play around with. Some kids may play rough and provoke the dog to bite but if the dog is gentler, it may be more tolerant with the kids. Good dogs for kids are also active and playful since that is the nature of the kids too. It should be willing to play or walk in the neighborhood with the kids.
Choosing a Hypo Allergenic Dog
This is a type of dogs that are said to be conducive for people suffering from different allergies. The allergen that affects most people is found in saliva. A proven fact is that all dogs shed and produce saliva; however, the amount of dander that a dog produces depends on the dog breed. Another fact that is known is that the total surface area of the dog influences its hypoallergenity as well. Most of the allergens are found in the dog’s saliva and urine or fecal matter.
Dogs that bark excessively are known to produce high amounts of allergens. Most dogs that are hypo allergenic are small and have a calm attitude. Golden Doodle is one of the breeds of dogs that are hypo allergenic. This specific breed is a crossbred of Poodle and it does not shed. Affenpinscher and Bedlington Terrier are good hypo allergenic dogs too as they do not shed.
The organization for dogs, AKC recommends Bichon Frise. Chinese Crested and Bolognese have very little fur. The breed also does not shed much despite the fact they produce saliva and dander. Grey Hound is also a terrific hypo allergenic dog because it has very short hair that comes only with a single coat.
Kerry Blue Terrier also has a single coat of hair which is very short. Silky Terrier does not shed but the hair can come out if brushed. However, it is a breed with excessive barking.
