Good Pet Names For Women

I like pet names. I always have. That's not to say that I've liked every pet name some have chosen for me, but I do like the idea, especially when put into practice by a gorgeous hunk of man who knows how to whisper sweet nothings into your ear. That being said, a silly name could be quite off-putting, as could lack of confidence when using it. Pet names aren't obligatory in the world of dating or even romance, so if you feel odd using them, don't worry; we don't expect you to. Just be aware that they can make a big difference when used well. I've also listed a few that may feel natural to you, but could have a 'daddy' feel to them when used with some women. (Then again, some women like that kind of thing!)

Gorgeous

British men are absolutely fantastic about this one -- there is nothing more flattering than being greeted by, "Hello, Gorgeous!" Doesn't matter if we're gorgeous or not; we're vain, vain, vain and as long as you sound sincere when you say it, we'll love you for it. Every time! And it needn't be reserved for greetings, either. "Come over here, Gorgeous" sounds pretty lovely, too!

Beautiful

Same idea as Gorgeous. Women want their men to find them beautiful, and this is a fantastically easy way for you to tell her she is, without having to wax poetic about it. A simple, "Hello, Beautiful!" will do -- I prefer the Gorgeous, myself, but that's mostly because I like the way it sounds when said by Englishmen. But I'm not picky, and neither are most women!

Sexy

This isn't a name you'd want to use while in line at the grocery store (well, maybe it is...) but it's going to go over extremely well whilst in the bedroom. If you're not sure why, scroll up to the vain, vain, vain part -- tell us we're sexy and the odds of us getting sexy are greatly increased, believe me.

Darling

Let me preface this bit by saying that this particular pet name tends to sound a bit old-fashioned with most men. It still sounds fabulous when used by Englishmen, "Hello, Darling..." and Texans, "Hello, Darlin'...." If you don't have one of these accents, you may want to test it out on a female friend and see what she thinks.

Kitten

This one is probably best reserved for the bedroom, but I've used it in my books (even used it in the title!) so I promise, it sounds fab when said by the right man. Again, it's one you should probably test on a female friend first.

Honorary Pet Names

These aren't the only pet names out there; you may want to create something original, or you may want something more innocent. The following are pretty soft and generic, but be warned; they're also names many women were called by their fathers, and they may not be keen to hear it from you in the bedroom!

  • Angel
  • Princess
  • Sweetie
  • Honey
  • Sugarpie
  • Sweetiepie
  • Shortcake
  • Muffin
  • Sugar

I love pet names. I do prefer them to be original; a pet name that he has made up because it means something only for the both of you. I think that whenever a man is ready to call you "ma libellule" it means that there is something serious going on, just another sign of the relationship turning more serious, a sign that he is in love.

Isabella! One of those not so great ones is "babe" my ex used to call me that and just the sound of it now makes 'gnash' (I'm not even sure if that's a word...but I'm sure you get the drift) my teeth till they hurt.

Nice hub as alway regards Zsuzsy

Princessa -- Yes, I agree with you. Sadly, I've yet to date anyone creative enough to come up with ma libellule!! I'm starting to want that husband of yours!!! ;)

Zuz - Poor thing!! Babe wouldn't do for me, either... Baby, maybe... but only in very special circumstances!

I find myself calling my wife beautiful or gorgeous once in a while but, I try not to. She hates it. Honey seems to be ok. Maybe I should try some of these others. Shortcake probably wouldn't work she is taller than I am. Maybe I should try kitten.

Love the hub. Great work. I never liked to be called pet names by the guys I dated. Then, I met my husband, and somehow that changed quickly. He has a special made-up name for me and I love it. It makes you feel special when you are called a name no one else is and no one else understands except you and your spouse. Kinda an inside secret that the 2 of your share. Something that makes you think of a special time and has a special meaning. Think I'll go give hubby a hug! Thanks!

I agree with you, a good pet name can make a woman go all warm and fuzzy. However, I have to say that I HATE "darling." But this is probably because I'm from the Southern United States, and it sounds really redneck and icky on those boys' lips.

Carmelita is a pet name I'v been called. When he calls me Carmelita it makes me feel special. I am not Spanish, Mexican or any other Latin nationality. He calls me this pet name because of my spunk and fire.

Opera, you mean like 'darlin' ? The one I don't like is 'dear.' I'm not sure why I don't like it, but I don't.

"Gorgeous" is reasonably common in the UK, from people who know you a bit. I like it.

For romantic, personal names, context is all, and how they developed, I think!

hmm.. i like the pet name Love, myself. "hello, love." ^.^

same with My Love."what are you doing, My Love?"i like it, but it seems to only fit well with people in long term relationships. i also say it to my pet lizard quite often, when she's being silly.

There are plenty amount of pet names that every one could pronounce depending on how receptive and tide one relation ship between two people is will be rising. I personally prefer names like; my love , darling , and sweetheart for women and as man am liked to hear rather well; honey and darling as well some other combined names belonging to the situation in love life like, my smooth operator, or my king or even though my love or just simply to hear the name man is the very best satisfying pet name of all for a man I had ever heard; I like much better darling and for women forms my love good….
