A Bravo Top Chef coming to the Hill

Top Chef Spike Mendelsohn launches new eatery in DC

I love milkshakes. I love the taste of ice cream purified to a drinkable form and the rich consistency. I love that everytime I would get sick as a kid the solution always came through in a milkshake. And now one of my absolute favorite Top Chef contestants from Bravo's ultra hit foodie show is opening Good Stuff Eatery (303 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE www.goodstuffeatery.com) in DC this month.

Spike Mendelsohn comes from a family stock of chefs and Spike is no newbie to the culinary scene. He's worked at places like Le Cirque and Mai House in NYC. On Bravo's Top Chef this season he was calm, cool and collected and sure he had his occasional outburts but when you're working under the gun with a room of ego driven maniacs behind the counter who can blame you?

Some things to look forward to when the Capitol Hill spot opens? The real deal in casual fare like hamburgers dripping with Vermont cheddar and french fries drenched in a chipotle mayo. Of course you can then wash it down with milkshakes made from homemade ice cream. Word in the rumor mill is that Mendelsohn is hoping to launch another eatery on 18th Street in Adams Morgan. If the Spike's celeb status doesn't turn him into a hot brand in DC than his food surely will.

I love milk shakes myself. I never have really followed the Top Chef show though. Thanks for the interesting hub.
