Food that is low in nutrients and high in calories is bad food for weight loss. You must avoid consuming the bad food.

The moderately-good food belongs to those moderate in nutrients and moderate in calories.

Fruits and vegetables are good food for weight loss purpose, especially when you eat them raw. They make you feel full without too many calories. Raw fruits and vegetables have high water and dietary content.

A large apple of 212g has 110 calories. One medium orange of 130g has 62 calories. One medium banana of 120g has 105 calories.

One medium cucumber of 160g has 16 calories. One medium carrot of 61g has 25 calories.

If you consume a cup of vegetable and fruit salad with raw carrot and apple of 170g, you take in 222 calories.

The method of preparation is very important in weight loss. Many traditional Asian food are low in calories and high in nutrients due to the cooking methods.

According to the Health Promotion Board, Singapore, a bowl of rice porridge with sliced fish of serving size 559 gm contains 211 calories.

A bowl of egg noodles with shredded chicken, dried mushroom, and green vegetables (serving size 653g) contain 346 calories.


A serving of winter melon soup with pork ribs contains 102 calories, without rice. A bowl of glutinous rice steamed with pork, black mushroom, Chinese sausage and lard contains 343 calories. A bowl of steamed rice will have much lesser calories.

If you like mushroom soup, you can cook the clear mushroom soup instead of creamy soup. You can eat your favorite food without the excess calories.

Before you drink the red wine, you should think of the calories in the red wine. Before you eat the slice of cheesecake, you should think of the calories in the cheesecake.

You can lose weight by reducing the calories from bad food, and increase the consumption of good food.
