Whether you enter a standard sized or a larger Goodwill Superstore, all the stores are clean and spacious enough. The isles are wide enough to accommodate two shopping carts. If you expect to shop for only a few select items or smaller items such as lingerie or swimming suits, you can opt for a hand held basket.

Today, Goodwill has gone to lengths to meet the needs of their customers, but this wasn’t always the case. Two years ago, clothing was separated by category and color, but not by size. This made shopping a lot more cumbersome. For example, I would find women’s black pants all in one area, but would have to spend too much time looking for the label of each and every pair to determine if they were my size.

This is no longer the case. Each Goodwill thrift store in the Las Vegas metropolitan area is separated into 4 clothing categories: men’s, women’s, children’s and infants. Each area is easily identifiable by clearly marked blue and white signs. All areas are now arranged by category, color and size. They are well organized and well labeled in rows and round carousels. Most articles of clothing are casual and utilitarian, with the best of the best set aside by the sales staff near the registers, either hanging or behind glass cases.

Men’s pants are separated by size from “S” for small to 3X, as are men’s blazers, shorts, dress shirts, short sleeve shirts, and t-shirts. Men’s size charts are found throughout the store as follows:

Men’s Pants (waist):

S 28-30
M 31-34
L 36-38
XL 40 &up

Men’s Dress Shirts (neck):

S 14-14 ½
M 15-15 ½
L 16-16 ½
XL 17 & up

Women’s clothing is separated by type: jeans, long sleeve tops, short sleeve tops, shorts, skirts, pants, lingerie, dresses and prom, blazers, suits, jackets and scrubs (for the health industry). Most clothing is not a set price, although on a recent visit women’s jackets were $4.99 and scrubs were $2.99. Women’s dress size charts are as follows:

Women’s Dresses & Prom:

S 0-6
M 8-10
L 12-14
X 16-18
2X 18w-22
3X 24 & up

Men’s and women’s accessories are normally hanging at a nearby wall. Women’s belts come in all sizes, plastic and leather, plain and embellished. Scarves are either hung or in baskets. Men’s ties also hang against the wall or on stand alone carousels. Ties from all eras can be found here: vintage men’s ties from the 1930’s and 40’s are rare, but mens vintage thin narrow ties can be found on occasion. If you are part of the fashion forward crowd, skinny ties from the 50’s 60’s and 80’s allow you to keep pace with what is popular today with a nod to the vintage necktie. You can rest assured that no one will be wearing your skinny tie as it is essentially a one-of-kind. Narrow ties in the range of 3 inches are also a good choice. I've seen brand new Merona ties from Target in this width. Men’s cuff links are located in the jewelry section behind the counter near the front registers, where you will also find the Goodwill thrift store monthly sales & event calendar.

All clothing and accessories sell at a fraction of their original price. Brand names are mixed in with the basics, so you will need to sift through the racks. If you shop on a sales days, you will save even more, but beware of crowds and long lines because the word is out that great values can be found at your local Goodwill stores!
