Google Adds PDF Support in Google Docs.
Google Adds PDF Support in Google Docs.

Google Docs adds support for PDF files besides its Documents (Word), Presentations (PowerPoint) and Spread Sheets (Excel) applications. Users can now view and share PDFs with others online.

Earlier this week there was rumors about the PDF support and it came true today. Now users can upload PDF documents to their Google Docs account. Previously the PDF support online were only available in Scribd, Docstoc and Acrobat.com.

Google Docs is free for Google and non-Google accounts. You can use your own e-mail address to view the documents it is not compulsory to have a Google account.

With this new PDF support, you can upload, preview and share PDF’s. It retains the PDF format online. Google Docs has not added editing feature, but hopefully they may add it in the future besides a PDF creation tool online like Acrobat.com .

When you share the PDF documents, others can either see the document online or download it to their computers. Currently the “share” link in Google Docs doesn’t work, but it should be available later on and you can enter the e-mail addresses you want to share it with.

To access the PDF feature in Google Docs, follow these steps:

1. Log on to Google Docs (with either Google or Non-Google accounts)

2. Click “Upload” and click “Browse” to get the PDF file from your computer.

3. The PDF document is updated, you can view it or share it with others.

With Gmail you can see any documents, presentations and spreadsheets online with Google Docs, and soon they will add the PDF support to view through Google Docs also.

PDF support in Google Docs is a great tool to use online. Hopefully they will add more features such as editing or creating PDFs online and embedding the PDF documents like Scribd.com (Google Docs embeds Presentations but not the PDF). Google Docs however allows you to copy the contents in the PDF and paste it elsewhere for editing purposes.

This PDF was another user request feature and Google provides it for their customers.

This sounds really great. It would be better still if they compiled the whole ebook for us. I havent actually done anything in the Google docs yet. still have to check it out. Wishful thinking. Thanks for sharing

Eileen, soon Google Docs will bring that option, till then you can create Ebooks in Acrobat.com (in PDF), but if you need any help I can create in Microsoft Reader, Palm, Flash formats.

Wow, I'm out of the loop. Never heard about Google docs. Going to do a little research on it right now though because it definitely sounds like something I could have been using at my last job. Funny how you used to need to carry a floppy disk around for everything and now thiings are easier in all regards. Good info.

Bueller, it is a useful tool. You can use it to complement your Hubpages articles and have a backup there. It is unlimited storage and can access it from any place. Give it a try. Cheers.

Thanks Compu-Smart, I love it, it is becoming an online Office. Also, try Zoho.com, they also have a great product with so many applications.
