Geo-targeting is one of Google's Adword features which enables PPC advertisers target a specific continent, country, city or region to display their pay per click ads. This is one very effective tool because it really narrows down the redundant spending and restricts unwanted users to click on your ads. For example if you would like to target only United States and Canada or only specific cities within these countries so that visitors from Europe or Asia do not click on these ads. Its also helpful if you product and services are being offered to only desired locations that meet your targeted audience customers.

  • GAP Test Defects - Part Two

In the first part of this article series about Google AdWords Professional certification, I looked at some questions and answers that I considered to be of doubtful value. Here’s some more questions and answers from the exam that I think reflect badly on the value of a GAP certificate to an advertising professional and degrades [...] - 2 weeks ago

  • AdWords Phishing - Another Type Of Click Fraud?

I now know what at least one of the scammers are doing. Screenshots of the fraudulent activity signature of this scammer are shown below. If you’ve clicked on a URL in an email apparently from Google, recently, then you might want to check your AdWords History - as shown below. If these international fraudsters have [...] - 3 weeks ago

  • Malware Detection Breaks Web Metrics?

The Register has an article about web analytics problems caused by the malware detection of an anti-virus package. This may have implications for advertisers and SEO, too. I have not downloaded and tried this anti-virus package, yet. I didn’t see any white papers or clear explanation for the AVG LinkScanner technology on the AVG site. [...] - 6 weeks ago

  • AdWords Phishing Alert

I have just received a series of evilly crafted attempts to obtain account names and passwords, or possibly to deliver malware. Formatted as a better than average mail message from Google, it looks like a genuine Customer Service message. Clicking the embedded link takes you to a site that looks like Google, but is a [...] - 2 months ago

  • Yahoo vs AdWords: Part Dieux

Some time ago, I started a review comparing Yahoo!Search Marketing (previously Overture and previously Goto.com, but here known as “Y!SM”) with Google AdWords. Of course, Y!SM, which had been hanging fire on a promising new interface, Panama, promptly rolled the new stuff out. I claim no impact on this, just remark on an accident of [...] - 4 months ago

  • Google, AdWords, April Fools Day Humour

I’ve spotted several prank postings. My favourite is from Richard Ball, offering a spoof interview about Google use of domain parks. A few others: Project Virgle - The most surprising thing was the test result that described me as normal. My wife is convinced that I’m from another planet, and it is much further away [...] - 4 months ago

  • Google Slap, Microsoft & Yahoo! Search Marketing

While I was driving to work, I began to wonder if the recent changes to Google AdWords, damaging a good many online businesses, have more to do with Microsoft’s hostile bidding for Yahoo!, than to do with advertisers. Google’s overarching significance is because of the organic search results. Most searches are not intended to find [...] - 4 months ago

  • AdWords - Relevance - WTF?

I’ve been following a thread by a frustrated would-be advertiser in the AdWords Help Forum, with some interest. He’s obviously spotted that Google have potentially created a niche, by suppressing so many adverts when they think that the paid search results are less appropriate. The search is “No Country For Old Men DVD” or similar. [...] - 4 months ago
