Geo-targeting is one of Google's Adword features which enables PPC advertisers target a specific continent, country, city or region to display their pay per click ads. This is one very effective tool because it really narrows down the redundant spending and restricts unwanted users to click on your ads. For example if you would like to target only United States and Canada or only specific cities within these countries so that visitors from Europe or Asia do not click on these ads. Its also helpful if you product and services are being offered to only desired locations that meet your targeted audience customers.

  • Privacy and AdWords Extended Search Query Reports

Good news - Google is allowing more insight to be gathered from AdWords Search Query Reports, by exposing more search queries to scrutiny. Google recently changed it's Quality Score calculation. The most troublesome change for the Quality Score calculated per search is geo-targeting. Adwords will boost Quality Scores for ads in the same geographic region as the consumer. Better Quality Scores mean higher ad positions.

As a consumer, I would imagine the appeal of the internet is being able to view products and services from outside your local area. Now Google is going to shut that down, and show ads only from your local area.
