When Microsoft extended a partnership with Yahoo to include the new Bing, Microsoft’s answer to a more intuitive search engine, forerunner Google decided not to sit on their throne and be ignorant about it. While Bing is definitely an exceptional search engine, complete with real-time queries and several interface features that makes it look pretty, Google was secretly developing an all-new search engine for a few months and have finally fought back the advances of Microsoft and released the competition; codenamed ‘Google Caffeine’.

Even though it is still in the developer’s stage, where it is still unreliable and there are still plenty of creases to iron out, it has gotten some very positive reviews from search engine market players like trafficbroker.co.uk and other Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialists. Google’s announcement of Caffeine has come at a surprise to many since Google is known to release applications only right before launch. The announcement, according to leading market industries, is not seen as a form of intimidation of Microsoft’s Bing, but rather to steal the thunder that Bing has had in tech news.

Since the announcement, plenty of users have wanted to try out the new development, search parameters like “google caffeine download” in search engines have spiked through the roof, many unknowingly thinking that Caffeine requires a download. A link to Google Caffeine will bring you to a page that looks identical to the current version of Google, but while it looks identical on the surface and on the exterior, its back end technology is completely different. Think of the current Google as a stock model Ford Mustang with around 400 horsepower and Google Caffeine as a fine tuned Shelby Mustang with 500 horsepower, they look the same but under the hood, they are two different monsters.

Over the announcement, Google has promised users that Caffeine offers an improved number of indexed results, more accurate results and it will be faster than what it is offering currently. So with the bulk of the internet techies having already tried out Google Caffeine, what is their verdict? Fortunately for Google and unfortunately for Microsoft’s Bing, the verdict for Caffeine is a huge stamp of approval. Internet users found that Caffeine offers up to 80% increase of search results and it has doubled its speed, resulting in a much quicker response time. This means that users get more than half of the results that are shown currently at half the time. Caffeine is already a great improvement, by any standards.

Also, with the growing use of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, Caffeine will also provide real time updates from those social based websites and more. Searches will also yield more relevant results from those sites as well so if you want to search for a “Jack Sparrow”, you will most definitely get a result from his Facebook account, if he has one when he is not out pirating on the Caribbean. Like Bing, Caffeine focuses mainly on keywords so the search results are more accurate so chances are you will get the website you wish to go to on your very first search engine try.

While it already looks impressive, there are some negative reviews, though mostly irrelevant. Users are having trouble getting Caffeine to work on their mobile phones, with the phones either returning less desired results or an error in its entirety. Internet users should understand that Caffeine is still in a development stage and since it already has an arsenal of features implemented, it will definitely be a lot better when it is released. It looks like Microsoft and Bing has to work a lot harder to dethrone the king of search engines. Google has just been injected with a substantial amount of Caffeine.

I was playing around with 'caffeine' this morning and my first impressions were "Well? What?". Then this evening I saw your hub and thought I must read it because I was obviously doing something wrong. Apparently I wasn't. So far it is a great unseen. I am a Google fan so I hope I am not disappointed in the end. Thanks for the hub.

I agree. I see not much new except for tenths of a second in speed difference. Bing is said to give better results over MSN or Live and it has improved image searches. But Google is still is tops although I see no difference with Caffeine.

What I don't like about Google is if Wikipedia makes a new page on a subject it is automatically near or at the top of the SERPS which is absurd. It is not an authority in all subjects simply due to bibliographies, citations, some quick stats, and that it is not commercial content. That seriously needs to change. Deep web blows all the caffeine talk away.
