Google Chrome OS: Win or Lose ?
80Google Announces PC Operating System - Chrome OS to Compete with Windows. Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Chrome OS, targeted at netbooks and those who spend most of their time on the Web. Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips. There certainly have been experiments and even product launches in the Web-based computer operating system marketplace before.
These smaller, faster, Web-centric operating systems are made especially to power smaller, nimbler and easily transportable Web-enabled devices like Netbook computers.Essentially, the OS is a small, fast-booting platform whose purpose is to run a browser, and from there all the Google apps and other web services you know and love.
The new Linux-based OS - Chrome is expected to run on both netbooks and desktops. But they concentrate more in netbooks. In order for Google to seriously challenge Microsoft’s dominance, it needs two things. First, it needs to be seriously awesome. Second, it needs to be compatible with Windows Apps.

Top reasons to love Google Chrome OS:
- It will be Free. Chrome will be free as in Open Source. Microsoft has had a history of conflict.
- Runs on ARM. Unlike Windows, Chrome OS will be running on ARM as well as X86. This represents it will be compatible with smartbooks. ARM-based laptops will be fast, very power efficient, cooler to run, be able to last for days on a single charge and integrate tons of features.
- It will be more secure. Whoever using Chrome Browser can feel it.
- Speed. Google is promising boot times measured in seconds, not minutes, so battery life should also get a boost — it will be possible to cold boot instead of sleeping or hibernating the machine, saving precious juice.
Cons for Google Chrome OS
- Netbooks are not only the World - Netbooks may be important, but they remain a tiny part of the world's PC sales. However, operating systems have been given away for years now and Microsoft has persisted. Linux accounts for about 1 percent of the OS market today, and has already lost the battle for netbooks. And there is a reason for that: It isn't Windows.
- Compatibility Matters. Both hardware and software was the major reason why the world anointed Microsoft its King of Computing
Chrome Partners Announced
There is an Good Domination of Microsoft in the past years on the OS Industry. The monopoly leader faces an competition with Google.
Google has shaken up the operating system business quite a bit, with nothing more than an announcement of a future product. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out over the next year or so.
Is it Microsoft again or Google ????

Yes rb. You are correct. The main problem I can think off is the compatibility.
We need more competition. Google OS will be great it will be cheap and do the same job. Most of our work now is in the internet, we seldom use offline programs. If we have a simple computer system and connects to the internet then it is great.
Thanks for your comments. Netbooks is designed to solve all your requirements. Now most of netbooks come up with instant On feature.
Seriously its a war between terminators and humans, what you see in the movie. But when it comes to net surfing, downloading and searching stuffs, then i would say google chrome will oom, but again we need a user friendly OS too, where Windows is booming. So, google chrome OS need to be more adaptive both online and offline, more fluent, more strong and easy.
Terminators are not humans nor can create humans, but humans can. catch the irony.
Arpan. Thanks for Sharing your comments. Perfectly said Terminators Vs Humans. Google has to make an User Friendly OS too in order to compete with Microsoft.
Google will be creating an excellent system for a targeted market. As much as I would like to see it take over from Microsoft, I don't think it will happen until they support Windows .exe files
Thanks for stopping by Comp3820. But I feel the compatibility issue makes Google Lagging Microsoft. Also the Look and Feel of Microsoft WIndows. People are used to this very much and are more user friendly. Lets wait and see... :)

I'm far from a OS expert and I don't have to may qualms with MS as long as I shut down some of the behind the scenes operations that kills my memory. I think we are all scared of compatibility problems, especially when you don't have a clue how to fix them. Good information..
