Google Docs adds New Languages and a New Interface
67
Google Docs so far provided the following languages in its settings, where the users can display the Docs menu in any of the languages they prefer.
US English, UK English, Bengali, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Marathi, Norwegian, Oriya, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Ukrainian, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.
Hebrew and Arabic are also supported for documents and presentations, but not spreadsheets, so users can type in a left to right format.
Today, Google added the following Indian languages:
Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, and Telugu.
You can see the above changes in all versions of Google Docs, Standard, Premier, Education, Team and Partner Editions.
How to change the menu (or interface) language in Google Docs?
Just sign in to your Google Docs account and click “Settings” and select the interface language of your choice.
Once Google provides an option to type foreign languages in Google Docs, then it will be complete. For now you can copy and paste and it provides a spell check option in many languages from the above list but not all.
Also, Google Docs made some changes, it has added a number of options in the menu and it looks more like Microsoft Word 2007.
You can also add colors to your folders just like the Gmail labels as shown below. Just right click the folder and choose the color.
