Google Maps adds two new features, Wikipedia articles and geo-tagged photos related to the areas you are searching for in maps.

Google Maps so far had “Street View”, “Traffic”, “Maps”, “Satellite” and “Terrain” views and now it adds two options the users would like to see or know more about the place they are interested in.

Google Maps has added “Wikipedia” and “Photos” options in “More” button next to the above ones. To see photos of the place, click the “More” button at the top of the maps and choose “Photos”, you will then see geo-tagged photos provided by Panoramio.

Similarly to find articles related to the particular location, you can choose “Wikipedia” in “More”.

Click this link here, you will see photos and Wikipedia articles of White House. There is no “Street View” option here probably to protect the area.

These two options will be very useful when you travel or visit.

Once Google adds photos from everyone and not just from Panoramio, then we can find more interesting photos. The new cameras have a built-in Geo-tagging feature, so we can see more high definition pictures in the future.

Google Maps also added another feature in the search option, it has integrated real-estate listings in maps. Just type the location and click the “show search options” link, you will search the locations by businesses, user-created contents, mapped web pages, real estate listings and locations.

This set of features may not appear in other countries, try visiting the US Google Maps site, you may still see related information from your country.

Compu-smart, I love this feature, so when we visit a place, it will give us some idea about the features.

I have to keep remembering to use Google Maps when I write about a place, it is so easy and you can cram a bunch of info in. Thanks for the reminder

I've just bought a Garmin Sat Nav and written a hub about it. You can now download the Panoramio photos together with geo data to the Garmin.  You can then select a photo and press 'go' and it gives you a route to where the photo was taken - brilliant!
