Google Maps offers Wikipedia Edit features for places

Google Maps offers Wikipedia Edit features.
Google Maps now offers Wikipedia edit like features to anyone in order to update the locations, address, company details etc. If the business is not located at the correct place, we can easily edit it to update its location.
Google provided the location edit feature last year, now it has added few more edit features to update the businesses and their locations in the maps.
In Google Maps or any in other maps, some times we find the places (a tourist spot, hotel or any business) are not exactly where they should be. In order to rectify this Google Maps has added Wikipedia like features to edit the locations ourselves. The video shows how this map editing can be done easily in just a few steps. You can start with any place, just type in the name of the place and address details in Google Maps and see whether they are located correctly. You can see that particular place by means of marker sign. If there is no marker you can either scroll down on the left side and you will see a link "add a place to the map" or create one by entering the name of the place here. If you want to add a new business location to the Google Maps, then you can click here. If the marker is not located properly, click the “Edit” link and then you will provided with three options, 1. Move marker (just drag the marker with your mouse and move it to the correct location) 2. Edit details (you can enter the address, phone number, tag information etc., and update it if there are any changes) 3. Remove places (if the business is no longer present in the current location or goes out of business, you can remove them). Kristen from Mashable.com said that only users in the US and Australia can edit the map features but hopefully it will be available to other countries. She said Google archives the history of all the edits that are made and corrects if they are reported wrongly. This feature will help Google but also will help us to find the exact location in the future.Share it! — Rate it: up down [flag this hub]
