Google Mars Adds Live And Historical Images Of Red Planet
61
Google Mars like the Google Earth and Google Maps has lots of new and old images that span almost the entire Red Planet.
You can find incredible detail about the Red Planet in Google Mars, thanks to pictures from Odyssey’s and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter’s cameras.
Google Mars has antique maps of Mars from over a century ago to latest images from the Mars spacecraft.
You can see the new maps at Google Mars either online at http://www.google.com/mars/ or offline in 3D via Google Earth at http://earth.google.com/mars.
In Google Mars, you can see a faint glimpse of the "Face on Mars". But the resolution is not very high to see the actual face in it yet.
Click the “Spacecraft” tab at the top of Google Mars page to see where
the rovers are and where the Viking Landers and the Russian Mars
Landers landed etc.
You can also check the “Mountains”, “Canyons”, “Craters”, “Ridges”, “Plains”, “Dunes”, etc.
A Google spokesman told Telegraph:
"We are entering uncharted territory."
Telegraph said you can also go on virtual fly-bys with the Odyssey and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
There are currently three spacecraft orbiting Mars, Mars Odyssey,
Mars Express and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. We can expect more
images and information from them in Google Mars.
