Google Money Kit?
Its ridiculous. Everywhere I turn these days I see someone pimping this so called Google Money System Kit. Before I go any further and tell you about this Google Money System thing, I just want you to know...
Its a scam!
Simple and plain and for one reason...Google does NOT pay people to work from home. They just don't.
Does Google Pay People To Work From Home?
My first encounter with the Google Money System Scam was in a forum where several persons were promoting the program. I noticed that the hook was "Google is paying people to work from home."
That right there to me was a big red flag because I knew that Google does not pay anyone to work from home. This was false advertising and a possible infringement of Google's intellectual property.
So I checked out the opportunity and found a few things that didn't seem right. Besides the false advertising that Google was paying, I found that they would send you the kit free but only if you paid a very low shipping cost (anywhere from $1.95 to $3.95). Nothing wrong there but if Google was paying people to work from home, I'm sure you would hear it from Google's own website and not some third party.
And, of course, they would make whatever information you needed available on their website or downloadable.
Even the Google Money System sites tell you in their disclaimer:

Also, I've never seen this Google Money System advertised or talked about on CNN or any other site for that matter. Maybe someone has but I fully doubt it.
So What's This Google Money System Anyway?
You know what the funny thing about this Google Money System is though? I've never seen any one particular program identified as the Google Money System.
It seems as if there are so many different variations of the same scam. There is also a lot of different names for the program.
A few I've found were:
- Easy Google Cash Kit
- Easy Google Profit
- Google Treasure Chest Kit
- A "Google Business Kit" showed up in my email this morning.
- Google Money Tree System
- Google Cash Kit
- Google Money Machine
- Google Home Business Kit
- Google Money Profits
They never really tell you how it works on the websites but supposedly, you get paid for posting links on Google. Shouldn't it be "for Google"?
Apparently the kit contains a cd among other materials that introduces you to a program that Google runs called Adsense (more on that below). The program is free to sign up to once you meet the requirements so these scammers are wrongfully exploiting the program by charging people for information which is freely available from Google themselves.
Here is what Google had to say about the situation.
Of late, we’ve received a few emails from new AdSense applicants about not being accepted into the program despite paying a specific amount of money or buying a CD package.
We’d like to take this opportunity to state that we're not affiliated with any third-parties that solicit payment to join the AdSense program or that sell CDs with money-back guarantee offers. AdSense is a free product offered to publishers by Google Inc., and there’s no cost or obligation involved. As a result, we recommend that prospective publishers exercise caution when presented with such offers.
The Truth Behind the Lies.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'll tell you where the Google Money System scammers got the bright idea for their deceptive advertising from.
Google has two programs called Adwords and Adsense as part of their Advertising Programs for website owners. In most cases you use one or the other although there are many people who use both.
With Google Adwords, website owners pay Google to list their ads for them. These ads are created inside Google's Adwords interface where the website owner has an account. There are many legitimate programs online that will teach you how to use Google Adwords to generate a full time income and there are many people including myself who make money using Google Adwords.
Google Adsense is the other half of Google's advertising programs. The ads that advertisers create using Google Adwords are placed on websites owned by persons who have an agreement with Google to be paid for their participation in the program.
So Google actually does pay people...BUT...the income depends on a lot of factors such as how popular the website is, the topic of the website etc. Its definitely a work from home opportunity but more of a website monetizing practice.
How Do I Make Money Online Then?
Ok, so if you're reading this and you're thinking, "Everything's a scam. How do I really make money online then? Could you point me in the right direction?"
I'll be glad to. The good news is, everything is not a scam. I do my job to inform others of scams I come across such as the Jeff Paul scam and the Russ Dalbey Scam. I also don't recommend programs that I haven't tried because I don't know if they will work for you or myself or anyone for that matter.
One website that I do recommend because I am a member and they have shown me how to make a full time income online is Wealthy Affiliate Internet Marketing University.
Before I found Wealthy Affiliate, I used to dream about making money online and even got caught by a couple of scams. Since I joined the site in January of 2007 though, I've learned how to do things and the fact that you're reading this right now is proof in itself.
Wealthy Affiliate is a very popular training resource that will show you how to make real money on the internet - over 23,000 people have trained their according to the last forum count. The owners are very involved and even though they are very busy they do actually respond to every private message they get asking for their help. There aren't many places you will find hospitality like that.
There are also many success stories as well from people who have gone from not knowing what a domain name is (don't worry if you don't know either) to making their first dollar online.
Of course, this isn't the only way to escape the Google Money System scam and make money online but its one I do recommend if you seriously want to learn how to make money without being scammed.

This company is a rip off! I have been on the phone with them many times trying to get my money back, I never even logged onto the website to use it, I don't want it! They told me that they would credit back my account, but only credited back half of it so far. One guy told me that they never give anyone back the full amount. I told the company that I would go online and complain about their company and their response has been "go ahead, it won't do you any good." They are pretty arrogant and told me that the other half of my reimbursement is in some "special holding" at my bank. That is the answer they gave me when I asked them where the other half of my money was. All I want is my account credited for a product I did not use, I do not own. BUYER BEWARE! My advice: don't do it!

Amen to the scam assesment. Its hard to stay away from the scams because there are so many. You are right about Wealthy Affiliate though. The thing people need to know is that WA is fantastic. they will give you every tool you need to make a living online. However it is still up to you to use the tools. WA will not make you money, you are the only one that can make you money.
yes, it's true. google money tree, google money kit, any kind of google money making kit is a scam. the thing is these products are not put out there by Google. if people would read the fine print in the terms and conditions on sites promoting the kits, they will see the real company behind the products. these companies get hold of your payment details and after you receive the so called free trial cd, they will charge you a monthly fee.
I don't understand why Google doesn't stop these fake companies in their tracks. they're giving Google a bad reputation.

Most of these scammers offer you base marketing tools that you can get from any legitimate company. As had been previously said: have a good product, build a great website, and drive traffic to it. You can do it with handouts, mailings, flyers, and signs in addition to e-marketing tools. Imo, do not spam. If you spam me, it goes into my filter and gets flushed.

i signed up for one of these sites for $1 (of course using a paid visa card so they couldnt try charge me the high monthly fees after the trial) and i wouldnt say it the infomation they provided was a scam, it had straightforward methods in there that could produce a good income on google (time and effort obviously required)....granted it would have been over priced had i paid the $75 a month or whatever it was after that - most of it was about general techniques on getting more traffic to your site, nothing special but to someone new to internet marketing (who hasnt heard of Adsense) it may be have been usefull.
if the sites refuse to give a refund then yes it is a scam. the way i avoid this is (as mentioned above) using a prepaid visa card - that way the only amount i can lose is the amount i put on there.
Call your CC company and explain to them your situation. They might be able to help.
It's a pity that the writer of this piece can't proofread his own work-- if you're a journalist or at least a college graduate you should know the difference between "its" (possessive) and "it's" (contraction of: it is). Now I really can't trust anyone about this GOOGLE scam/offer. Why not leave the writing to the English majors and PhDs? Bad grammar and its evil twin SpellCheck have really gotten out of hand...

Great article! These guys are making money off of a free service and it is getting out of control. I have done a lot of research on these guys and it is rediculous. Never pay a penny to these guys, not even for shipping. They will take a ton of money from you. I started a website devoted to taking these guys out. I have tried all the numbers and can ber reach anyone...They always have an automated voice and leave you on hold for 30 to 45 mins with no response. THese people are the worst.
why is it so hard to make a decent buck, don't even know where to start. what site to use. Is it ligit or not? without feeling duped. just want to earn an extra buck for my house hold, i don't care if its 8 bucks an hour. just want to start earning a paycheck, and it seems like everyone is lying just to get my money. people are jerks.
Hey Joann, yes its very scary out there and I guess these scammers are working overtime now because of the economic downturn because they know that people are losing their jobs and trying to earn some extra money.

Its the only thing I recommend these days to keep people away from the scammers because it worked for me.

There are no legitimate get rich quick plans. If you want to make money online, you have to work for it. I am happy with the business I'm involved with.
I fell victim to the scam and when i called the number i asked the guy if i could make money doing this. He said you CAN.. I then asked him if he worked for the company and he said well no...So i thought about it and called the number back to cancel and the same guy answered the phone....kinda fishy. Good thing i didnt loose any money.
Very cool ARTICLE. i AM AN AFFILIATE MARKETER WHO HAS SPENT MANY long hours,went through countless pots of coffee researching these scams. I have always used leverage on Free sites to get exposure and yes to genrate income. It is so easy for people to become what I call "Moneyblind" by these false promises. We all want to genrate an income and you can, a good one out here on the net. To bad there are so many bad apples who try to ruin it by LIEING. The Google Money Master, The Google Money Kit, whatever it may be called is straight out a scam! I have purchased a 7 day trial for $1.86 only after reading it being promoted on NBC's website. When I purchased the trial the terms and condiction specified that I could cancel within the first week if I wasn't satisfied and that would be that. I called to cancel on the second day after realizing there wasn't any information that I am not able to find just "Googling", but the people behind the Google Money Master Kit charged my cc for $74. Currently working with my credit card company to reverse the charges...prob won't happen. I've called the customer service number given by these scam artists, and was told that they don't have a record of me ever calling or emailing to cancel my 7 day trial.
So basically, this is how these scams make their money. It's not their useful information to help people earn money online, it's false advertisement and they go for the stupid monthly charges after that. .Piece...
I'd never heard of this scam until a $2.29 charge showed up on my credit card. I immediately called my credit card company and canceled my card. I was then connected to their fraud department who called the number they had associated with the charge and via conference call, I spoke to a person from "Google Money Profit" who promised a refund (which posted a couple of days later) and insisted that this was not a scam. I never ordered this product but they had my complete credit card info and address. They obviously have some illegitimate source for this info.
In researching this subject, I'm finding a lot of "news releases" and "reviews" of this program that give it great praise. It's funnly that many of them use the same words or phrases, often in very poorly written English. GOOGLE Money Scam is really a way to communicate a lie to the masses. Think about it, they just use technology to forgo the meetings pyramid scheme scammers use to have before the Internet boom. I don't feel sorry for you idiots at all. You say, I just want to make money. What you really mean is you want to get paid for the least amount of work/hassle on your part as possible. So you took a chance in hopes it was not a scam and thought, "what the heck, it's only $1.96 and the risk may not outweigh the reward." Really you are just a lazy ass and want to sit in the comfort of your own home, on your computer and get paid for it. That's not work and should in no way make you any significant money. How are you pissed off when you find this thing did not work they way you hoped it would? Didn't the disclaimer alarm you a bit, or were you still lying to yourself in hopes of that lazy way out of debt? Whenever there are enough dumbassess who are lazy and greedy, scams will always have success. If the shoe fits...
Yeah this is some good information. All these get rich overnight scams using Google Adwords are just scams. They are the same washed out thing that provides you with "tricks" that really do not work. The only way to make money with Google Adwords is to learn it, and use your brain.

I, a CPA, too got suckered into this, but was VERY LUCKY to have found this site and others like it.
I cancelled my card and cancelled before the trial period was up.
I then received a phone call from a friendly sounding woman at 866-311-7023; she, Roxi Minkkinen, said I wouldn't be charged. When I called this number back, a foreign sounding man answered and when I complained about their devious practices, he laughed and told me that "you Americans are so stupid and think you can get something for nothing". He then told me that my personal financial and identifying information was being sold to a group in NORTH KOREA!!! When I began to curse him out, he laughed as loud as possible and hung up.
So the true purpose of these scams is to get information for ID theft from U.S. Citizens and sell it to NORTH KOREAN criminal organizations.
Yes I guess we are pretty stupid…

this was the stupid thing i got myself into, and on my moms CC she was so pissed, she called her CC company and they canceled her card. lets hope for the best
I am glad I found out all of this information. That, this too, is just another scam. The only problem is that all I'm trying to do is to find some sort of home based business that I can do to make money and I keep falling for all of this crap on the internet. How does anyone really know what's legitimate and what's not anymore?????
It is a new style of scam for 2009 and expected to continue for other popular platforms in a variant names like Twitter Money Monster, Facebook Money Machine etc. Do not fall into such Get Quick Rich schemes. Except playing lottery and having ultra super luck, no one can be rich easily. Internet is like any other business needs dedication, planning and smart work.
Yeah these kinds of scams are everywhere. I work for a company that takes calls for BriteSmile Teeth Whitening. We have been flooded with calls over the last month from people that have been scamed off some free product trail. They were asked to pay $1.95 for shipping then start getting slammed with miscellaneous charges on their card. Apparently the name of the company running the online scam is SmileBrite so close to ours that people assume it's us.
He have been instructed to let these people know that they need to contact the States Attorney's Office and file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division.
So yes I have been on both ends of these things so to speak. Buyer Beware. Before venturing into anything that involves ANY amount of many even if it is a small amount... Research Research Research.

Just got sucked into this one without even knowing it. I did inquire and got a zillion calls. I told them to stop calling that I was not interested. Today I noticed on my bank account that there was a withdrawal of $47.50 so I called the 800 number on my ach authorization. They SAID I authorized it that there was a 14 day free trial. That's the money making scam! They scam us for inquirying! Where's the fair trade administration for online scams! Anyone know how we can contact them? BEWARE!!!!

I am one of those people who have fallen for this scam. I have been charged £45 on my debit card and phoned up my bank branch and cancelled my card but they still took my money out. I have now reported it to lloyds tsb about it and they know nothing about it.
I am a victim of this scam.
I saw where a woman in my hometown had earned money by signing up for GoogleProfits and they would send a CD and give you instructions. I also have a friend that had talked about this. So, not thinking it through or checking the validity of this offer, I clicked on it and submitted my information. As everyone who has been taken by this scam knows the flood gates were opened and charges began to show up on my account. I immediately phoned the ones I could reach and it started to dawn on me that this was a scam. I even told them it was and they denied it. I said I was going to file a dispute against them. I think there were 4 different ones with different names, like Money Market, etc. Well, a couple of them credited my account. I then contacted my bank and they said all I needed to do was come in and file a dispute and they would refund my money. I got all my money back. They issued me a new credit card and they also opened a free checking account with another card so I can use that card when making purchases online. I also filed a complaint with the Complaint and Fraud organization. I decided that these scams must be exposed.

These fraud websites are infringing on Google’s property. It’s a pity thousands of people have wrong notions about making money online and thousands still continue to do it.

I am glad I read most of the comments above, as a person I really love the internet and I am always looking at making money. However, these people are a disgrace and should be stopped. What makes me more mad is that google seem to be standing by and letting it happen. I mean they are using a global name like Google and hiding behind it to scam people. You do receive a CD for the Google kit. The scam is the affiliate building link at the end of your hub. Was the Google Scam article written to introduce people to the affiliate marketing program you are endorsing? Many commenters scanned the article and did not see the link at the end of your article. Bait and switch on line?
Hi Linda. I'm aware that you do receive the kit. The scam is the misleading advertising and the shady behind the scenes happenings. Just this week I had 5 different people contact me because they tried to call the companies to cancel and weren't getting any answer. This is so common with these types of offers. You should do some research about it yourself and you'll see.
As for your questions, the article was written for two reasons, mainly to warn other people of the scam (Google itself has tried on two of their blogs). My own mother almost got caught up in this so I'm trying to get the word out.
The second reason as you've pointed out is to introduce people to affiliate marketing. I do not try to hide that at all. People do want to know how they can make money online without getting scammed, so I try to point them in the right direction. There's not scam here at all.

THIS IS A BIG SCAM !! THEY GO ME FOR $51.79 MY BANK TRIED TO GET THEM TO REFUND MY MONEY , BUT THEY WOULD NOT. SO THE BANK GAVE ME A NEW NUMBER FOR MY CREDIT CARD, SO THEY COULD NOT TAKE OUT ANY MORE.
I paid the $1.95, never receive a product and was billed an additional £44 which overdrew the account. I was about to close the account to avoid further fees, but I'll ask about changing my card number right now.

scams like this are giving the internet marketing/home business industry a bad name.
it's bad enough that people are already sceptical. sometimes i spend hours talking to people just to convince them that there is decent people and legit ways to make money online.
it angers me that there are people out there who dont care who theyre scamming. As a young guy with a family, i lost a lot of money online when i first started out. how someone can scam another for the sake of a few dollars is ridiculous.

I have looked at a lot of so called systems that appear "too good to be true" and then I remember two things that my dad would say: "If it sounds too good to be true, then It's probably "NOT" true"! "You won't get something for nothing"! So, when I see these advertisements, I consider what he always said.

I'm reading these comments from people who managed to cancel out of this scam before they got charged, but I can't do that! I've tried writing them to cancel...no response. I've tried calling the customer service phone number twice. The first time, my call was cut off after 30 minutes of being on hold. The second time, I was on hold for 3 hours, ran down a completely full battery on my phone, and NEVER talked to anybody! Can someone please help me find a way to cancel this darn thing? Thanx.

Call your credit card company and change your numbers and then ask them to file a fraud charge-back for each charge.That way they cannot recharge you again. I had to do a total of seven charge-backs from companies that stole my numbers when I did the Google Money info crap. Then I changed my numbers.
Good post - the Google money thing is still everywhere, but apparently one guy was behind the bulk of those sites and he is now facing fraud charges.
This is no doubt a scam, they never sent me the cd or allowed me to log in to their website. I cancell my card and got a new account, F... them
People want to make money... have to make money. So with the best of intentions they go on a search for "how to" products. And invariably they run into scammers who are banking on the brand of well respected companies. They are slick and write good copy. People get sucked in. Then when they realize they have been duped they get angry. And Credit Card Companies are not very quick to help consumers. Many parties to blame.

I fell vistim to the google money tree scam and thanks to my poor banking practices they charged me $234 over 3 months. When I reaized that they had been charging my debit card for three months I called them and told them I wanted my money back. They said they wernet the actual GMT company that they only didi the billing. When I asked what the name of thier company I was told that they could not give me that information. I went through my bank and tried to have them get my money back (which they did try)but was informed that it wasent possible. hope this help's any of you out there looking to get into any of the "google" type scams
