The search engine battle begins

The battle has just begun. Microsoft and Yahoo are now teaming up to go against the number one search engine in the world. Which is Google. The software giant Microsoft has spent $100 million dollars to market the new search engine Bing.

Microsoft has recently developed a new search engine called Bing. Microsoft claims that Bing isn't even a search engine. Its a decision engine. Which is suppose to bring back more relevant searches according to what keywords you type in. If you are using MSN as a search engine you have already seen Bing organic search results. If the deal goes through with Microsoft and Yahoo. You will also see Bing organic search results with the Yahoo search engine.

Google has also developed a new project called caffeine. Which is suppose to bring back more relevant searches as well. This caffeine project is suppose to also increase indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness as well as other dimensions.

Right now worldwide Google search engine controls about two thirds of the searches performs daily online. Which is close to 7 billion searches a day. While Yahoo receives less than %20 of searches performed daily. Which leaves Microsoft with less than %10 of the searches performed daily. In July Bing captured 8.9% of the search engine queries which was a tiny increase from 8.4% in June.

Now with a little competition at hand will Google innovate once again?

I think Google's caffeine update is nothing but a step to draw attention against towards Google. But Google should not be insecure of Bing.
