Compensation for Publisher Referred to Adsense

Last week I was going through the terms and conditions of Google adsense program. While adsense is a great way to monetize your websites/ blogs and to earn from target traffic ,what we tend to neglect is Google Adsense Referral program. It is perhaps because many of us aren’t aware of the compensations google offers for the referrals. Unlike google adsense , Google encourages us to draw attention of our traffic creatively to our Google adsense referral button.

We can place Google adsense referral button on our site and when a publisher signs up for Google AdSense through our referral button ,our account gets credited. When this publisher earns $5.00 within 180 days of the sign-up date, our adsense account is credited with $5.00. When the same publisher earns $100 within 180 days of the signup date and is eligible for payout, our account is credited with an additional $250.In other words you earn $250 when your referral to google adsense program earns his first $100.

These compensations aren't lucrative enough, but here is what got me thinking. If, in any 180 day period, you refer 25 publishers with each one earning $100 and qualifying for adsense payout, you will be awarded a $2,000 bonus. This means every time you refer 25 publishers within a period of 180 days ,you will earn $2000 when they reach their minimum payout amount of $100 and there is no limit to the number of times you could earn that.

If you have good traffic visiting your website/blog ,then this might just provide you the impetus to look closely at the referral button so the traffic to your site can make you more money. There are many adsense formats and colors for referral buttons to choose from on the Referrals page within your AdSense account.

Other Google Referral Products

There are several google products other than adsense that you can refer and earn from ,but the compensation for those isn’t as rewarding as the adsense referral program. And the earnings from the referrals vary depending on the product you're referring and their conversion ; Not just the signup.

For:

Firefox and Google Toolbar : You will receive up to $1 in your adsense account when a user downloads the Firefox plus Google Toolbar from your referral button and runs Firefox for the first time .It pays up to $1 based on the location of the user who downloads the Firefox and Google toolbar.

AdWords: Adwords is a service provided by Google for advertising on their search engine network where you can select your daily budget and the amount you would like to pay per click your ad receives. You can manage your campaigns and check the number of clicks in realtime in your Adwords account. For every Adwords Advertiser you refer, your account gets credited $5 when the advertiser spends his first $5 within 90 days of the signup date

You will be credited with another $40 when that same advertiser spends $100 within 90 days of the signup date.

If in any 180 day period you can refer 20 advertisers each of whom spend more than $100 within 90 days of their respective sign-up dates, you will be credited another $600 as bonus. This bonus is limited to 1 per calendar year.

Pack: Google pack is a collection of essential softwares. When a Windows user you've referred to ‘Pack’ downloads and installs the product, you'll receive up to US$2 in your adsense account depending on the geographic location of the user downloading the Pack.

Checkout: Google Checkout is a service offered by google for buyers to shop online. When a user signs up as a buyer and completes a transaction through Google Checkout of at least $10 within 90 days of the signup date, your account will be credited with $1.

Google Apps: Apps provides it’s user a powerful communication and collaboration tool. When a user signs up for Google Apps and there are one or more Google Apps email accounts in use for four consecutive weeks, you will be credited with $5.

.

Tracking Referrals

It’s important to remember that unlike google adsense ,you are paid by the referral programs for conversion and not clicks. You can track the performance of your referrals from your adsense account..Once you login into your adsense account visit the Reports Overview page or the Advanced Reports page and select ‘referrals’ in the dropdown box. There you can check the clicks, signups, conversions and earnings separately for each referral product or service you use.

Short term and long term perspectives

While all the referral options Google adsense provides are good revenue generators ,having profited from it myself, I find the adsense referral button the most profitable. If you get enough traffic to your website or blog and use the adsense referral button creatively then the income from your adsense referral might beat your adsense income ,atleast in the short run.As your traffic and community expands , your earning graph from adsense ads will steadily climb above the income from adsense referral.

Google adsense is now allowing third party vendors to place display ads on publisher sites. To keep yourself updated on the latest in Google adsense visit Online wealth Vault

These are really good ideas, especially the referral button which I haven't used yet. I'm going to add it to my newest blog. Thanks, bluewings!

Sure, the referral scheme is good if you can get referrals who really earn within the stipulated time - which is actually unlikely unless your site already has a lot of traffic. For these famous people, they would either have added adsense or kind, or decided against. Whichever the case, they are not going to come to your amateurish site and join as your referral. They would be "smart" enough to passby you totally.

And the sad fact of life is that we have MANY people at hubpages and myLot who have their accounts terminated before or when they reach payout. It's fun - we have a challenge to see who can accumulate the most amount of money before they get terminated.Tell me when your account gets terminated. I will let you know if you manage to beat the record. ;-)

When I would place google referral on the side-columns I didnt even get one click! So, I thought how useless! A while later I started to place them within my posts (usually at the end of a post), where appropriate and had success almost immediately. I think it's just a matter of finding the right place in your website and I'm far from "famous" lol and I dont get alot of traffic to this particular blog, but I do have a small steady following.

Good hub as always bluewings, just the right amount of information, thanks for sharing.

Good to know you have seen some positive results,T! :) I too have got some signups from my adsense referral button after moving it to a more prominent position.I am hoping that my referrals do well for their sake and mine ,lol.$100 in 180 days is just over $16 a month for six months and with the right keywords and proper SEoptimization it doesn't seem very unlikely.I am still working on my blog :)

Having been terminated due to unqualified click on reaching the required payout and on the same day I get my pin number stinks!!

I would never recommend adsense to anyone as through no fault of your own someone could illegally click you off for life!

Hi ATL.If you are asking how you can have google adsense ads on your hubs ,then you would have to add your adsense code to your Hubpages account by visiting The "Affiliate Settings" page under "My Account" link. You can get more help in the hub forums. http://hubpages.com/forum/ However,if you want your hub listed in google search engine, then you have to promote it more.Bookmarking your hubs through the 'Share It' link right before the comments section is a good place to begin.

Glad you thought it's useful,Locutus!

It always helps to hear both sides of the story. Thanks for commenting on the possibilities of clickfraud Deeeky! I agree it's very disappointing to have our account terminated for no fault of our's.I try to report clickfraud as much as I can.Apart from using the adsense channels ,I try monitoring adsense clicks with another tracking software for the clicks, but it's hard to be too sure.

What do you mean by you communicate with them? Do you have any googele friends? Why would adsense staff talk to you for no reason?

bluewings profile image

bluewings  says:

By communicating with them I mean emailing 'Google adsense support' whenever I am in doubt about promoting my blog at a particular site or reporting unusual click patterns on my blog when I notice them; like if I get 200% CTR on a good-traffic day( just an hypothetical example). For example , a few days back I noticed several backlinks to my site from sites that weren't English and where comments seemed fishy, like the comments were generated by a software.I found it unusual and had to get in touch with them.Another example was when I realised that adding adsense here might increase my adsense page impressions whenever I visit my Hub profile and might be viewed as false page impressions to decrease the CTR.

I also visit the google groups (forums) for reading questions already answered by google adsense consultants and experienced members.Oh no,I don't have any personal friends, lol.I contact them only when in doubt and a few exchanges helps to know a few names at the support, but getting answers straight from them is what helps more.

I just hope anyone clicking my referral button gets a payout from adsense in record time. It took me 3 years. And I'm afraid to get too attached to adsense because I've heard too many stories of people suddenly being banned.

You are most welcome,Guru!

If it was someone like me starting a blog ,then I can understand it taking three years, lol.I started my first blog in Jan 2006 and built it around high paying keywords, earned $18 the first month and dumped it instantly, lol. But some money still kept flowing in.It was only recently(a month back) that I took a closer look at adsense after someone I know received a cheque of $160 and changed the way I look at blogs and adsense because I had been hearing and reading about it.I didn't even submit a sitemap to google yet, lol.I too won't like getting banned. That's why I try to read up as much as my time allows me to and ask questions about the clauses not expounded in the terms ,when in doubt.Rest lies in their hands, lol. Thanks for sharing your sincere thoughts,Moonmaiden!

Thanks Bluewings! Google Adsense support team is great. I agree with you. They promptly replied to my query. They are very accommodative and helping. And it took less than 24 hrs to get a reply for them. And you are right, to communicate often with them, will lead to a healthy Google Adsense relationship. And to build a good rapport is essential, especially when it involves money matters. And they are very professional in their dealings. Keep on posting more Google article. They will be very helpful.
