Do you use translation software online?

I use Babel and Google Translation (Via toolbar) very handy. When dealing with multilingual customers, sometimes I translate what I write in English in their own language, makes it easier for them to understand. It is not a perfect translation but I tell them that it was translated via online and to forgive any mistakes in the translation.

Now I predominantly use Google Translation because the Google toolbar is a heaven sent. For example here is a Spanish page, which I want to be translated to English. With the Google Toolbar, I just click the translate button "Translate this page" it gives the following page. Before you have to go to a translation page, click the link or copy the whole page to be translated, the translate button in the Google Toolbar avoids the additional step. To add Google Toolbar click here. You will see the "Translate button" and you can choose the language you want it to convert to.

This Google translation is fine to convert the whole page, but what about a single word? Suppose you want to get the meaning of a single word and phrases for that word, you have to use other methods. But Google has solved it with a new addition today. You can get the definition and translation for a single word and it gives its usage in many sentences. This is much better than getting the word just translated. So it will help you to understand other languages better. Here is how it looks like with the new Google Translate online tool.

This new feature currently only works with five languages, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Korean. Other languages will follow soon.

Several weeks ago, Google also gave us the ability to search the "foreign web" in a three staged approach. First Google translates our search terms into the target language, then it queries Google for results with that translation, and finally it displays the results translated back into a language understood by the user.

Thanks Stacie, glad you find it useful, Google really helps us a lot. Also the reviews in maps help. I have rated many in my local area and also useful to see how the business or store is rated. Thanks.

Yes, it is very handy for me. I deal with some French customers, I try translate it and send a copy of it below the English message, so they can understand both. This is a neat tool. As you said everything is free, it will be a Office kind of application, we can use it online. I hardly save anything in Desktop, this is like having a virtual drive by using the Documents & Spreadsheets. :)

I got tired of Word crashes in desktop, with Google it saves every minute, so it is a healthy backup. Also, helps tagging, finding related articles, it is wonderful :)
