Google's Adsense for Search Program
73Optimize Your Adsense Earnings By Using It
Most people are familiar with Google's Adsense for Content Program. But, not many seem to know about the earning potential of the Adsense for Search feature. Using a combination of both can significantly optimize your Adsense earnings and ensure that you get your payout from Google much earlier than you do now. Google's Adsense for Search feature allows website owners to place a search box on their site and generate revenue whenever visitors to their site use the search box and click on the relevant ads that are displayed alongside the search results. I've found Adsense for Search to be a great supplement to my existing Adsense for Content revenue. Adsense for Search is a natural extension to your website. If the users to your site aren't getting what they are looking for on your site, they'd naturally query Google to find that. Having a search box right within your site ensures that you can retain the visitors to your site and at the same time ensure that you stand a chance of earning money if they do click on the relevant ads that show up alongside the search results, when they search using your search box. I've also found that Adsense for Search ads pay higher per click than the normal Adsense for Content ads. Perhaps, this has to do with the wider array of ads that can be accessed via Adsense for Search.
If you are an existing Adsense publisher, you don't have to do anything new to get started with Adsense for Search. Of course, if you are using the traditional search feature, you need to have a site where you can put the search box. This applies to the conventional search box. However, even if you don't have a site of your own, you can create a Google Custom Search Engine and promote that independently. This can be a great option for those who have users that are looking for information across specific niche websites. Google's custom search option allows you to add specific websites of interest to its database and search only those websites, or search the whole web with particular focus on the websites you've added to the database of your search engine. This custom search engine works the same way as the normal Google search would and you can earn money if the users of this search engine click on the ads that show up on the results page.
The good thing in having the Adsense for Search box, especially on your site, is that it allows you valuable insight into the behavior of your visitors, as in what they are specifically looking for. The "Top Search Queries" feature that shows up in reports lets you know what the visitors to your site are looking for. You can then add those features to your website if possible, thereby making your site more useful to your visitors and generate more revenue from the relevant ads that show up.
Adsense for Search in combination with Adsense for Content optimizes your earning potential and can result in your reaching payout much quicker. Its an option worth considering for Adsense publishers.
