Gordon Ramsay-A Dream, Not a Nightmare
70
Internationally famous chef and restaurant owner Gordon Ramsay is on my list of most desirable men.
Is it is handsome good looks?
Is it his bad boy, take no crap attitude?
Is it his amazing culinary skills?
Is it his British accent?
Honestly, all of the above.
Having watched many episodes on BBC America, I've tried to see beyond the fiesty, and sometimes rude persona he potrays and get to know the man behind the crisp white culinary jacket.
He is fiercely passionate about food preparation. He is strong believer in cleanliness and appearances. He has a firm grasp on the elements that make dining a pleasurable experience. It's so much more than good food.
One of his biggest complaints with the restaurants he critiques is that they tend to provide too many menu selections. He believes that a restaurant should have a few main entrees that they do very well. He's also a huge believer in buying local produce, meat, dairy and fish and making everything fresh daily.
Due to his no nonense approach, he often easily offends restaurants owners making them quite defensive. Once they begin offering excuses his temper ususually flares and you hear censored remarks for the next few minutes. There have been times that I have disagreed with his approach and felt that he could have been more effective without the barrage of insults, but his apparent success would seem to prove otherwise.
With my intense viewing of episodes of Gordon's shows, I have grown quite fond of him. Yes, we're both married, but that hasn't kept Gordon out of my dreams a time or two.
So, Gordon, if you're out there reading this, just know that you come to my kitchen anytime!

MMMMMM, you're a girl after my own heart. I have had a crush on him since I watched the first season of Hell's Kitchen. He's totally adorable and has so many wonderful qualities. He's definitely over-bearing, but I assume that he has grown up in a similar fashion and not only that, but he's so passionate about cooking and pleasing his customer with amazing dishes.
This was spot on:) Great job!
Another thing we have in common, KCC! I love love love GR! He can hang his pots in my kitchen *any* time... :}
However, I prefer Kitchen Nightmares over Hell's Kitchen, maybe because I like to see a restaurant transformed in one show rather than wonder which budding chef will come out on top over a season. My fave KN episode was where a failing restaurant owner told GR that he (GR) knew *nothing* about running a restaurant! Cameras rolling is probably the only reason the cretin is still alive!
GR used to do another show...can't remember the name of it...where he'd go to people's homes and help them prepare a special dinner, then come back and serve one of the courses to the lucky person's surprised guests. Always cracked me up because it was the one time he didn't use the F-word. (GR being *nice*??? How odd...)
Great hub!
LOL....CC Riter...my hubby is well aware of my 'crush' on Gordon. I've had several dreams about Gordon...*fans self* I have told hubby all about them.
MissJamieD & JamaGenee: *high-5s* Glad to know I'm not the only one. I think what it is is confidence. It's a quality that I think men admire in women as well. I know he can come across as an @ss and sometimes I think he's out of control and needs to settle down...but I think his heart is in the right place and if you really listen to what he's saying, he's right. The man knows his stuff.
I like Kitchen Nightmares better too. Someday....someday....I'm going to meet him. *sigh*
Hi KCC. I'm a big fan of Ramsay's. I work at home and, like you, see the British versions of Nightmares everyday interspersed with the F Word. I watch everything of his, and really think he gives the restaurants great advice. It amazes me how resistent someone always is to his suggestions. (I won't mention the highly exaggerated professional football career!)
Anyway, who cares! Great hub. I wondered if you ever saw this video taken when he was a kid.
LOL Christoph......I hadn't seen that particular one, but I ran across this one when I was doing some of the research for my hub.
Someone's going to have to cut down on the Food Network watching. GR? Really??
He's the best, LM!
Okay, KCC. But I'm still sticking with George Strait and maybe that Brad Pitt pic in Teresa's hub.
I think I have caught his show a time or too. Actually it was my husband becasue he wants to watch all the food guys and then drools on himself watching these shows because I'm so tired of cookign that they are lucky to get dinner at all. He seemed pretty good at what he does. I wouldn't mind tasting some of his food but i have to say that Paula Deen is my favorite. I love southern cooking.
LM...did you ever make it over to watch the videos on my 'raining men' hub? It's at http://hubpages.com/hub/Do-Women-Love-Men-with-a-S
I haven't seen Rachel Ray or Paula Deen, but I know who she is. Gordon does much more for me than teaching me about cooking....LOL
Being married doesn't bother Ramsay, fear not....
I honestly think he doesn't really like women. He's either rude or overly-condescending.
LG.....I have heard that about him. It's all in good fun, I'm totally devoted to my hubby. I would love to meet him though...with hubby by my side.
I haven't really seen how he treats women. But, I don't see him having any trouble being rude or condescending.
There was a lot of fuss in the media here last year about some woman he was said to have had an affair with over the last 7 years.
Did she come forward with this? (ie...wanting money?) or were they found out? I just glanced at the news feeds above and didn't see anything about it. I have heard of it...just don't know any details.
I'm not sure, I wasn't paying much attention - sorry!
What? You have your ear on the heartbeat of the UK! It's your duty to report these kinds of things to the world.....LOL I'm just kidding of course.
My attention span for "celeb gossip" is short, sorry....
I guess you'd say we're Ramsey fans at our house. We regularly DVR Hell's Kitchen and have seen many of the Nightmares.
I told you I like him, Rmcrayne! :) I have to get my Gordon fix online here and there.
