RENFIELD slave of dracula will be a real treat for the true Bram Stoker fan. Barbara Hambly has taken the character, R.M. Renfield, and very carefully brought him to full development within the framework of Stoker's original DRACULA.

This time we see the story though Renfield's tormented eyes. Using the vehicles of Renfield's letters to his wife, Catherine, his twisted dreams and even his relationship with Dracula's wives Nomie, the Countess Elizabeth and Sarike, the author allows us to see the world through the lens of Renfield's madness and to glimpse into his murky past before Dracula. And, if we look closely we can both see the pathetic human and the hero within the madman.

If you are one of those who enjoyed the 1897 novel by Stoker we highly recommend Hambly's RENFIELD slave of dracula. It's what Stoker might have written if he had thought to do it.

Barbara Hambly was born in 1951 in San Diego, California and grew up in Southern California. She attended UC Riverside and specialized in Medieval History. She obtained a Master's degree in 1975 and has lived in both Australia and France.

In 1982 Barbara's novel, Time of the Dark, was published by Del Rey and she was off and running. Between 1994 and 1996 she served as President of the Science Fiction Writers of America and has been a Locus award winner.

We would strongly recommend a Barbara Hambly book any day of the week.

You're kidding me! What a great idea for a book or film.

Did you see Frasier's "Niles" - David Hyde Pierce - portray Renfield in a made for TV movie some time ago? He was supurb in that part.
