BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Brief introduction:Mountain gorrilla from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Located amidst magnificent forests in the extreme end of South west Uganda, across the steep escarpments of the western rift valley, Bwindi is the one of the few National parks in the world famous for harboring half of the world’s endangered gorillas. The forest is also a habitat for over 90 species of mammals, other primates and 346 species of bird life of which 90% are of Albertine; rift endemic to East Africa. Evening traditional performances by local communities around Buhoma are worthwhile to see. The visitors have a choice of accommodation options to choose from. Gorilla Forest Camp (luxury), Volcanoes (medium), Buhoma Homestead (medium) Mantana Tented Camp (medium) and Buhoma Local Community Association (budget) offer travelers comfortable style of African accommodation.

DAY ONE: This Uganda safari begins Kampala or Entebbe. Our guide/driver picks you from your hotel of residence. Drive to Mabarara via Masaka. Make a brief stop over at the Equator for snacks and photography. Have Lunch at either Regency Hotel or Agip Motel in Mbarara, Thereafter , drive on to Bwindi. On the way, see and enjoy scenic beauty of papyrus swamps, terraced landscape, big rolling hills and valleys, the unique long horned Ankole cattle and big forests. Dinner and over night at either Gorilla Forest Camp, Volcanoes Uganda tours or Buhoma Homestead.

DAY TWO: Begin your day with breakfast then proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on trekking rules and regulations by UWA staff at 8:00am. Make sure you carry a rain jacket, jungle boots, drinking water and walking stick to be provided by park rangers for easy movement in the jungle. Encounter with a habituated group of gorillas you have been booked for, depends on the previous day movements as your guide will keep you up dated during the trek. After trekking, return to your camp where you will be treated to traditional performances in the evening. This marks the end of the gorilla safari

DAY THREE: Begin with an early breakfast and then return to Kampala. Lunch en route. NOTE: Depending on your budget and the time available time, it is possible to extend this Itinerary to cover Lake Bunyonyi, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Semiliki Wild Life Reserve and Murchison Falls National Park. The safari package to include: * Transportation in a 4 X 4 * One Gorilla tracking permit per person to be secured and paid for in advance depending on availability from UWA (We recommend that permits be booked well in advance to ensure availability). * Full board accommodation at your selected camp; * Driver/Guide subsistence allowance The package to exclude expenses of personal nature like: drinks, laundry, tips, telephone, cigars, etc.
