Gosh! Miss California's Breast implants sponsored by the Pageant Association

Miss California Organization recently revealed that it paid for Carrie Prejean's breast implants before she appeared in recently concluded Miss USA pageant.
“It was something that we all spoke about together,” Shanna Moakler, Co-Executive Director of the Miss California Organization told an online entertainment magazine. “It was an option and she wanted it. And we supported her decision.”
Prejean has become quite a sensation in media ever since she criticized gay marriage during the Miss USA telecast. Although the girl in question lost the crown (and blames it on the fact that she had to answer a question pertaining to gay marriage), things aren't that bad for Prejean who is presently starring in an ad smashing same-sex unions and also reportedly dating Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps.
But let's get back to her not-so-natural boobs. My central problem with this "we bought her breasts" news is it sends an awful message to young women of 21st century. I'm not really sure who pageants are for anyway, but I'd guess a majority of the audience is girls who aspire to be as attractive as Miss USA. By sponsoring Prejean's breast enhancement surgery, pageant officials are essentially saying that a full-sized, fake plastic chest is a perfect aesthetic that females should aspire to.
At the end of the day, it's a beauty contest and obviously the experts understood that their contestant would have a better chance to win if she possesses a larger twin-assets. One could argue that pageants are generally fake, but there’s a limit to this – surgically altering one's appearance (instead of just applying some Vaseline on your teeth or getting a tan done), seems ethically wrong to me

I seek your comment on this – Should a pageant pay for its contestant's plastic surgery?
