There are those among us - and you know who you are - for whom only premium will do. What to consider when you want the very best? Here are two popular kitchen remodel upgrades for those gourmets out there, or for those who just really, really like to cook.
Kitchen Islands
When you add and island as part of your kitchen remodel, you are actually adding extra work space and decorative interest. A kitchen island can be as simple as a small table, or for those who want it all, as elaborate as a custom-built, electrified, plumbed, tiled stove-top center island.
The realities of your kitchen, of course, must be taken into consideration, with practicality going hand in hand with the design specs.
Although that price can easily climb into many thousands of dollars when you include a sink or cook top, you can use affordable materials and stick to those features you really want and will use to keep the cost reasonable-even for a gourmet.
Custom Kitchen Cabinets
When it comes to cabinet design, the choices of door style, wood finish and other options are nearly limitless. Cabinets account for up to 70 percent of kitchen remodeling costs. Knowing what you need and want for your kitchen and researching those specs will only help you.
Now is the time when you may also want professional guidance. An architect, professional residential designer, or even a home supply store consultant from a big box store like Home Depot can offer assistance. They will likely be able to help you narrow your style and component choices to make the most of your space, as well as your funds.

Hi, CW-No on that last part. Why?? I have been trying to stay off the computer more--it isn't healthy at all to be on so much. Sore wrists and necks, etc. I also want to really concentrate on writing the articles--my adsense is beginning to earn more and I'd really like to bring it towards Maddie Ruud's earnings (she's inspirational as a success).
We have a very cool house. I may take some photos of it some day. But no, that is not our kitchen, thiough this is very similar in style to what my boyfriend designs for clients.:)
Your basic plan sounds ok, but to avoid an institutional look, you may consider adding a row of contrasting color tile to the back splash and interspersed on the island, or applying the tile in a diamond pattern or some combination of the two.
Hubber-2009-This is true.. Funny how this hub is now getting responses after sooo long a time up.
It always depends on what the client wants, absolutely. I'm more of an expert about writing on things like this than the client pleasing part.
Thanks for the comment!
Lita- I replied to couple of your comments in forum and no reply hence was wondering that's all.I hope soon you reach the critical mass as far as search engines are concerned to make the big money. I just login to hubpages for fun(Thank God I have a job with a decent salary).
Btw I didn't know that you are not married? Couple of time I think you mentioned about your life partner and I assumed he was your husband. So hopefully soon we both will tie the knot. It would be so cool to have a husband who designs houses to design the dream house to spend the rest of our life. You are a very lucky girl. Mostly my friends who buy houses have at least one or two things they aren't satisfied about the builders design but no such issues with you. Lucky You.
