Grammar Girl: The Podcast
64
This is the first in a series that will discuss my favorite podcasts. Since getting my Ipod last year, I have become addicted to podcasts. I currently subscribe to about 30 of them through iTunes. I don't subscribe to any one type of podcast more than the other; I have subscribed to comedy podcasts, literature podcast and cooking podcast, but many I do subscribe to have to do with the craft of writing. The first one I am going to discuss is Grammar Girl.
Grammar Girl
One of my favorite podcasts is Grammar Girl, hosted by Mignon Fogarty. It is a weekly, 5-minute podcast which covers the rules of grammar. Her relaxed style of speaking makes this a very enjoyable podcast to listen to. She usually picks one grammar rule to speak about every week. Many of the podcasts are based on questions people have asked her. Part of the podcast is dedicated to listener's calls and questions.
The current Grammar Girl podcast is about how to write percents. Other episodes have been about "which versus that", "who versus whom", and "the comma splice."
The podcast won the Podcast Award in 2007 for the best Education podcast. It has also won two Podcast Peer awards, in 2007 and 2006.
Grammar Girl is a helpful and easy to access tool for writers and students. Judging from a lot of the writing I read on the Internet, it is a tool that is needed now more than ever. Most people have questions about grammar and this podcast is an easy and painless way to learn what is correct.

Thanks for the comment :) I have to admit I don't listen to every single episode either.

I love this Grammar Girl, I also download it and listen to them. I wish I had more time otherwise I could follow it regularly.
