60Benefits of Granite
Granite is an exceptionally hard-wearing material, making it the perfect choice for your kitchen. Imagine a countertop that won't scratch and is very hard to stain. You can clean it easily and it looks great for years and years. You can place a hot pan straight onto the worktop with no ill effects!
People often think of granite as a dull material, but the reality is that it comes in lots of different colours. A natural pattern of crystals or grains runs through each piece of granite making it a unique material too. Some colours are rarer than others and therefore more expensive, but you're sure to find a shade that you like and that suits your decor.
The long-lasting nature of granite is probably its key benefit. Long after your kitchen cupboards have worn out and need replacing, your worktops will still be pristine. This means that any granite you have in your old kitchen can be transplanted onto new wooden frames (or steel, whatever your cupboards are made out of!). Your worktops are more like an investment because you simply won't need to throw them away!
Granite worktops can be cut to fit around any sinks or other holes you may have in your kitchen. They also feature built-in draining surfaces next to your sink, so you never have to worry about water falling on the floor from your washing up.
In the workshop, the stonemasons can shape the granite however you want it. For example, rounded "bull-nose" edging along the edge of your countertops is very popular, as is a rounded finish on the side of sinks. Because these edges are visible they're polished to give a stunning gloss.
