Gratitude and me
60So much to be grateful for, so few words to express it
The things I am grateful for:
Another day, everyday
Getting out of bed ready to go,
No matter what time I went to sleep;
I am grateful for every birthday
Everything I’ve done between them
Since I was born;
I am grateful for my life, and
people that make it so great:
My family
My friends, everywhere in the world
For the ones I’ve met in person and
The ones I am yet to meet;
I am grateful for the goals I’ve scored
And the great chances I’ve made for others to score
I am grateful for my swims in rivers
Lakes and oceans
All around the world;
I am grateful for everyone I’ve met
Who have helped me so much all my life
And for the few times I was able to do
Something for others;
I am grateful for my ability to learn
And become a little bit better everyday
More curious
Adventurous
Calm
Relaxed
Generous
Fast
Humble;
I am grateful for the things I have
Have had
Will have
I am grateful for my dog
My house
My cars
Bikes and how far they have taken me – trough deserts and over mountains
Sweeping planes and steep downhills, the world over.
I am grateful for my running shoes (and the ability to use them);
For the thousands of miles I’ve trained and run
And the ones I am yet to do;
I am grateful for the places I’ve been:
Places like New York City, LA
Perth, Athens (Greece), Barcelona, Buenos Aires & Marrakech;
Dubai, Rome, Rio and San Francisco,
Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Miami and Florianopolis;
And I am grateful for the places I am yet to go.
And Venice! I am so glad I’ve been to Venice.
I am grateful for Notting Hill, and my runs at Hyde Park in
Old London town.
And for La Bastille and Le Marrais in Paris.
Even for my runs right on the Seine’s cobblestoned banks towards the
Eiffel Tower. So grateful for that.
I am grateful for my garden
And the wonderful flowers therein
In the different seasons;
For the water falling in the little pool and for the birds that come to
Cool down there:
The cockatoos, currawongs, kookaburras, magpies and turtle doves who come to visit;
I am grateful for all my failures (there’s been a few)
As I’ve learned from them and each time
Have stood up taller and stronger, ready to go and
Achieve more;
I am grateful of my successes
For what I’ve achieved at work and at school;
I’m grateful for every teacher I’ve had, from kindy to graduate school
And for the things they’ve taught me, from accounting to philosophy
Languages to finance, and everything in between;
I am grateful for my ability to dream
For believing that everything is possible and
The things I want in life also want to be mine too;
I am grateful for being able to love
Laugh much and frequently
For knowing that everything is temporary and for really getting that
Change is the only thing that is constant;
I am grateful for learning to appreciate things more as time goes by
For learning to share what I have
For wishing I was able to give more and for knowing that I will;
I am grateful for all the wonderful things that have been invented in my lifetime
The cell phone, the ipod, and the Internet;
I am grateful for growing up with the PC
And using it to communicate, learn and have fun;
Oh yes, I’ve grateful to for my love of music and my appreciation of the talent
On the singers and composers through the ages;
From Mozart to Coldplay
Tchaikovsky to Plain White T’s
And Kings of Leon, of course.
Ah, yes... the music of Bob Dylan too.
I am grateful for so much more than I am able to say:
For every time I ran in the rain
For the sunrises and sunsets I’ve witnessed,
And the ones I am yet to see.
I am grateful for every time I held someone’s hand to cross the road
For taking a child to school
For the church services
For the football matches
Music concerts
Market days
For every school class, university lecture
I have attended and will attend in the future;
I am grateful for the wonderful city where I live
My city of Sydney
With its wonderful beaches
Great food
Parks and footy stadiums and fields;
I am grateful for Australia and the people we are
I am grateful for being alive.
I am grateful most of all to my mom and dad, and the grace of God
That allowed me to see past my first month on earth
To be able to share this.
