If you can crochet or knit you can make a nice keepsake for the baby, that most parents will continue to keep so that the baby can give it to their children.

Once of the nicest things that I got was a little hankerchief with a cute little poem attached to it, it was a bonnet when my daughter was a baby then she took it as a hankerchief when she got married. It was very touching to have the "something old" already handy. These are easy to make, Take a nice hankerchief, fold it and stich it so it looks like a bonnet, add some ribbon to tie it under the chin and it's done. There was a cute little poem wriitten and I do not remember it, but it was something that she wears the bonnet home for the 1st time, then carries it when she gets married. You can create any nice poem for the bonnet.

Making a keepsake quilt is another nice ideal to make for the new baby. This is again something that the baby can keep all the time and give to their children.

There are many crafts that you can do for a babyshower and a new baby.

You can make this really attractive Diaper Cake yourself. These are not only useful, but very cute and are the center of attention.

They can be customized to any parent's need, and since the cake is made out of diapers, it also is very useful to the parents. You can make these in no time and they are the cutest things that you will ever see.

I made a few to give as gifts and everyone loved them and since then I not only make them as gifts I also make them to sell. I didn't even have to do any advertising, Word of mouth got out and I was in buisness. I didn't plan on being in the Diaper Cake making business, but as you know every little bit helps.

I get most of the stuff that I need at Sam's club or Walmart. Once in a while for the decorations I will go to the dollar store and buy the things that I need. These cakes really are not that expensive to make. With these cakes you can go as far as you want. You can add allot of stuff to it, or as little as you want. It's like a gift basket that is filled with necessary things and everything that you used is useful to the person getting it.

Once when the parents-to-be were having twins I made two Diaper Cakes for them each one with different things. They complimented each other, but each one was different.

Savings Bonds are great to give as gifts. The child can save them till they are ready to go to college while it is still earning interest over the years. My children got several as gifts when they were born and used them for college. It really came in handy. You can buy these at banks, or now you can buy them online.

Stocks. Many people will buy several shares of stocks for the new baby. Again this is a great way for them to have money when they become adults.

Bank Savings Accounts: You can open up a savings account at a bank for the new baby. As the child grows older and gets an allowance they can then put money in the account also. Note: Sometimes the child will withdraw the money out when they are teenagers to buy DVD's and CD's.

CD's: This is yet another great way to save money make sure that the CD is renewable .

You can make your own baby shower invitations at home on your computer. There are several programs that you can use. Remember if you are making cards for the Baby Shower, to also design the Same theme for the Thank You cards.

Microsoft Publisher:

They have templates loaded that you can customized to make the cards. This is the easiest program to use to make your own cards.

Microsoft Word:

You also can use Microsoft Word to make the cards. This isn't as easy as Publisher, but you still can make it work. I haven't been able to find templates to really do what I want to do with them.

Microsoft Power Point:

Yup! You can use Power Point for the Totally Unique Baby Shower Invitations. These are great if you are having a baby shower at work and you know that everyone has Internet Access. To make a baby shower invitation with power point, you do it like a power point presentation. Details on each slide, You can add sound to the show, and the trick to making it a great invitation for the baby shower is to save it as a PowerPoint Show not a PowerPoint Presentation. If you save it as a PowerPoint Show It will play as soon as the person opens it. The person doesn't even need to have PowerPoint on their computer to view it.

Personally I love the PowerPoint shows. Here is a quick tutorial on how to do it. While this is for a child's book, the concept is still the same. These are great, personalized greetings that gets the information out. You also can have links in the show that people can click on that will take them directly to the website that the Parents-to-be are registed at for gifts.
