Gifts for dad
Fathers Day, birthday, Christmas or just because, it does not matter why you are giving your father a gift what does matter is that you get him something he will enjoy.
If Dad is a gardener there are a number of items you can select that are sure to bring a smile to his face.
There are gardening gifts to suit any budget.
Plants make a great gift because as long as they are given what they need they will keep on giving. What does your father grow? Is he a plant collectors, roses, maybe or does he prefer to grow food, maybe some heritage tomato plants?
Gardening magazines make a gift that can entertain and educate. Consider a one or two year subscription.
Is your father a clothes horse? A hat can make a stylish and sensible present looking good while protecting dad from the sun, thus making it easier to spend time in the garden. Shirts, shoes and vests also make great gardening gifts for the gardener who wants to look good while puttering about in the yard.
Speaking of spending time in the garden, there is a wide range of garden furniture from a comfortable reading or lounge chair to complete outdoor living rooms or dining areas so dad can spend time in the garden enjoying a meal with family or simply kicking back and watching the bees buzz.
You may want to consider lights so that the gardener can enjoy being outdoors in the evening or be able to light up the garden path. For evenings outdoors, a bug zapper may come in handy. If you are worried about energy use there is a wide range of solar lighting that won’t add to the bill.
Tools are a favourite gift, what gardener does not appreciate a new tool. If dad has a problem kneeling down to weed or plants seeds and bulbs there are long handled tools specially designed to make the work easier.
Tool caddies are a good way to organize the tools that help get the work done and some come with seats so the gardener can sit down while taking care of the chores.
Watering is a principal garden chore and there are a number of watering systems that make this job easier and conserve water at the same time.
Last, but certainly not least are books. Most gardeners like to read about gardening when the weather prohibits them actually getting out and garden. You can get how-to books and books that focus on a specific plant or style of gardening.
If dad is a gardener there is a gift out there just for him, job around and enjoy.

I bought my dad a tree every year. He loved to sit there in their shades. Right before he passed away he commented on how beautiful the trees I gave him where.
