Great Graduation Gifts For High School Students

In a few months my daughter will be leaving for college. Which got me thinking, what's a good gifts to give a high school students bound for college. I want the gift to be a gift that keeps on giving. I don't want to give a gift like -- a graduation party, or a car. I want a gift that she knows is there waiting and will benefit her future.

Gift Idea #1 - A CD that maturity date is after college graduation. Bank of America has a high yield CD. The minimum to open the account in $5,000 with an interest rate locked at 1.75%. However the term (time period) is 12 months. So, in this case I will roll the CD back into another CD to total the four years of college. Then at my daughter's college graduation I can present the check.

Gift Idea #2 - Open a saving account and give her the debit card, where I will promised to deposit a monthly set amount.  I think this is a better solution than a credit card. 

So, between gift's 1-3 - I plan to do them all.

Gift Idea #3 - As a parent I'm concerned about her eating habits.  She eats well a home, but what will she do in college.  So, I thinking -- a care package per month.
