White Vinegar, a great cleaning agent!

Whilst there are many varied commercial cleaning products which you can use around the house to clean various specific items, you may not know that White Vinegar is possibly the one thing you currently don't have in your domestic cleaning arsenal that you should.

White vinegar is cheap (much cheaper than commercial domestic cleaning products), and, surprisingly, although it has a quite pungent odor when you are using it to clean, once it has evaporated, it leaves virtually no distinguishable smell

Seven great uses for White Vinegar

  1. By adding a few drops of white vinegar to your dishwashing liquid, you'll find that you'll be able to cut through grease and grime on your dishes much more effectively.
  2. You can use white vinegar as a bug and insect repellant. add some white vinegar to a cotton ball or cloth and wipe it over your skin to keep the nasties away.
  3. Use a 3 to 1 mix of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle to spray on carpets where your dog or cat has urinated. This has the double effect of gettng rid of the odor, as well as deterring your pet from urinating in that area again.
  4. Want your washing to be soft and fluffy? Add a quarter of a cup of white vinegar to the final rinse in your washing machine. This also has the added benefit of removing lint from dark clothes.
  5. Mix a paste of white vinegar and baking soda to clean stainless steel. Mix the paste, apply it to a sponge, and scrub the stainless steel (ie your sink). Whilst the paste will foam up a little, it's perfectly safe to use.
  6. You can use white vinegar to remove sweat stains from the underarms of your clothes. Simply spray the vinegar on the affected area, let it soak for up to half an hour, then wash the garment.
  7. Need to get rid of household odors? Mix one Tablespoon of white vinegar and one Teaspoon of white vinegar into 500ml of water, and use in a spray bottle as a room deodorizer.

As you can see, there are many great uses for white vinegar around the home, so make sure you've got a bottle in your laundry cupboard.
