A friend of mine asked me to come up with the top ten best toys, at first I thought it was a ridiculous idea since it was such a broad subject. After all, how do you rate the best toys of all time? Would you look for the best selling toys, the best educational toys, or the most unique and unusual toys? Are tech toys better just because they seem to be selling better, or do the classics get a higher rating because they have withstood the test of time? Thinking about all the different categories, I believed the task to be impossible. Nevertheless, he convinced me to persist for a while. In retrospect, I am very happy he talked me into it but what a challenge it was.

Having a best toy guide can be very beneficial in many ways. First, parents don't know what type or kind of present to buy their kids. Secondly, the right educational toy at the perfect time can accelerate a kids learning curve of a subject. The kid is immersed basically in a learning lesson and they don't even know it. For example, a kite might not seem like much, but it can be a great way to teach your kid about weather, wind, or Benjamin Franklin and electricity. An electronics projects kit or circuit toy might not be as high tech as the latest video game system, but it can help kids understand how things work with respect to electricity or computer and inspire passion for a high-technology career. The best toys both are fun and inspire

It was discovered while we were in the process of doing the research is that collectors of these toys are a superb source of information when it comes to researching the best toys. In not knowing why collectors collect item I had assumed it was that they collected things because of their esoteric value and/or rarity, but as we found out they really know a vast amount of information of their specific collections and even other collectibles. Some toys made of tin, for example, are decades old but they still are as fun as I remember when you watch kids play with them. Windup cars can give remote control cars a run for their money when it comes down to the quality of fun, and as a parent I love that if something breaks I am usually smart enough to fix a wind up car.

Now I am certainly not advocating moving away from electronic toys. Some of today's toys with their high-tech computer chips are some of the best toys that were ever made. Video games systems, toy robots, remote controlled cars, and the virtual pets have brought about hours of endless entertainment. In my humble opinion high-tech toys can enhance a kids creativity through the use of computer chips if done right. One early example of this that a lot of people don't think of as a toy is the voice recording device. This gave me and my friends hours of fun including testing our secret spy skills. Similarly, digital cameras have started to come down in price and technology where kids can play with them. They are building them strong enough to take the abuse any kid can throw at it.

So, in closing we have come up with a great list of top ten toys and reasons why and you can check it out if you would like. Please go to Great Kid Gifts to get the free report and please feel free to make comments and not everyone has to agree.
