52If you expect your child to excel in school, then it is essential that he receives proper nutrition. Your child’s nutritional needs should ideally be met starting at the early stages in his life. Proper nutrition plays a key role in brain development, and is very necessary when a child is spending most of his time learning new things.
For good brain development it is important that your child gets adequate amounts of the nutritional components mentioned below:
1. Glucose: Glucose is amongst the best sources of energy that your child can get, and its role in building your child’s attention span is also important. Insufficient glucose intake can lead to your child complaining of feeling lethargic and tired.
Your child’s breakfast should consist of enough glucose to keep his energy levels up
through the day.

2. Folic Acid: The production of red & white blood cells in our bodies depends on the supply of folic acid that our bodies receive. Insufficient folic acid intake can also leave your child feeling lethargic, forgetful, and irritable.

3. Vitamins A & B: Vitamin A plays a crucial role in brain development during the fetal stage, and can be found in dark leafy vegetables as well as citrus fruits.
Vitamin B plays a role in releasing the energy that we derive from our glucose intake. Since there are various forms of vitamin B, you should not expect to find sources that have all forms.
Cereals generally have various forms vitamin B. Vitamin B deficiency can make your child aggressive or depressed.
4. Zinc: Zinc aids in the communication that takes place within our bodies’ nervous system. Zinc deficiency can lead to your child not being able to solve simple academic problems. This is a condition that is known as cognitive impairment.
Most cereals are good sources of Zinc, and so are peanuts.
A healthy and well balanced diet for your child should include cereals, meat, fruits, vegetables, and plenty of water. This will ensure that he remains a great student as well as a good sportsperson.
This does not imply that you must constantly be running behind your child in making sure he is eating everything he should.
Nutritional supplements are finding their way into the diets of many young children whose parents realize that this is a great way to make sure that their children get well balanced nutritional diets. Parents with busy schedules can make the most of these nutritional supplements.

While giving a young child nutritional supplements isn’t recommended by a number of people, you can actually start to give your child some supplements as early as when he is two years old.
