The Story...

Everybody's been to a wedding. Typically the happy couple has been engaged for quite some time and the preparation for the big day is tremendous. After all, this is the moment of a lifetime, this is forever.

What I'm about to write about here is a true story about a very special wedding day that happened in Grand Rapids, MI, USA several years ago. This story actually revolves around the cousin of a former aquaintenance of mine, and I will be paraphrasing and filling in a few of the details in my words for the sake of getting the story correct. This one is crazy!

The bride and groom-to-be were a happy couple. They both had great jobs and made a great living together. Neither the bride nor groom had children, but both had big families from all over the United States.

The groom was a co-founder of a local company and she was a departmental manager over a nursing team at a local hospital.

This couple was engaged to be married for just over a year and decided to plan their wedding day at a time of year that fit conveniently for both of their families so most could attend. They were pleasantly surprised when the RSVP's came back and the head count was made.

There were planned to be over 500 guests at the wedding. Some guests, like parents and siblings of the bride were flying in from all parts of the country and this would truly be a spectacular event.

As the big day was getting closer, everything was falling into place for the couple. The church was scheduled and planned out perfectly without a hitch, the reception was set, and the stars just seemed to be aligned for this couple and their big day.

So the ceremony day arrived and the wedding was this large spectacle of greatness. The planning and preparation and the money that was spent to pull off such an event was enormous. But everything went great and at the wedding itself, it all seemed to be well worth it.

This Is It...

The bride and groom, keeping to tradition, greeted all the guests as they were leaving the wedding. Then they took pictures with the wedding party and wrapped up the final details at the church.

While these things were being done the crowd gathered at the reception hall that was also part of the church. The people gathered. Parents and close relatives had their assigned seats at each table, the gift tables were piled up high...this was a very nice event.

Finally, when the wedding party arrived at the reception, the bride and groom came in and sat down at their table. When the crowd of people were finally settled and the celebration was about to begin, the groom interupted what was to be the best man's toast to the new happy couple.

The groom took the microphone from the best man and told everyone that he wanted their attention because he had something to say. And it was at this point that his words put a lasting impression on everyone who attended forever.

As he was clearing his throat he spoke, and it went something like this: "I want to thank all of you for coming today. Some of you came from very far distances to be here, and I want you to know that I deeply appreciate your efforts to be here.

I want to thank you for all of the gifts that you brought, and I want to thank you for attending the wedding. You have all been so good to me, and I'm sorry for what I am about to do."

Then he said, "I am going to say this and then I am going to walk out the front door and never look back. For the immediate family, I want you all to know that my attorney will be contacting you about the costs that you incurred to make the trip here today, because I will be repaying you.

I will be repaying you because the trip that you have made here to celebrate with us together has been wasted. We will not be doing this today because I am annuling my marriage to the bride. I'm doing this because she has not been honest with me and she's not been honest with you.

Quite frankly, the only person that she has been loyal and honest to is the best man...who truly is the best man for her. I know you must be wondering what I'm talking about, so as soon as I am out of the front door, I ask that you all look under your chairs.

And for a select few of you, there will be an envelope taped to the underneath side of your chair. And the contents of that envelope will explain it all.

Again I want to thank you for coming. And if you have any questions that the bride or best man cannot answer, please see my private investigator, Mr. ??? and/or his staff who will be near the door up front that I am leaving through.

He and his staff have been employed by me for almost 10 weeks now, and they will be able to answer any questions that you may have. Goodbye."

Then the groom walked out of the front door, jumped in the limo that was originally intended for the couple after the reception, and left.

The way the story goes is that underneath the seats of all of the adult family members and friends, including both couple's parents, there were several pictures of the best man and the bride sleeping together. Apparently in some very provactive and unquestionable positions and locations...yeeeow.

Now this story not only made me a little SICK, but it also made the local radio station's news after the weekend that it happened, but the story was pulled because of the sensitivity of it.

And now I want to say this...although the bride and the best man were wrong here, and this was one of the best revenge stories I've ever heard, I do think the groom had a little arsenic in his heart for going that far with something like this.

I mean, she definitely "shouldn't have done that," but man!

Think about this scenario for a minute, then you tell me..,

Do you think she deserved it?

Ya she deserved it. The grooms a total badass, ridin' off into the sunset. I feel for him, but I bet this cheered him up. :)

I really dont't know what to say? I am angry and sad for him, the man apparently doesn't deserve that... but she deserves more than that!

Well...sometime lessons need to be learned the Hard way..I mean come on...the bride having an affair with the best man? let alone any man at least if she wasn't sure she really loved the man she was engaged too she should have had enough  pride in herself to admit it and not go through with the wedding.

I know people that at the last minute backed out, just because their heart wasn't there.

I am thinking she did deserve it. If the PI was hired 10 weeks before the wedding that means they got it on during that time. Not a good look for a fiance. I love that he took it that far!! AWESOME.

Yep she deserved it, I cannot think of a better plan than what he did. Wow that was a super read, better than any Mills and Boons novel.

Thanks for your comments shame, G-Ma, Triplet Mom and blondpoet.  I agree that he did the right thing.  I mean, she started it and she was the sneaky one.  No excuse for this kind of behavior from her.  I wonder if her and the best man made it?  Actually I wondered if the best man was married or had a girlfriend?  Wasn't able to find out, but that would've added more of a twist to this!  That's what you get is what I have to say her!

Thanks to you too ESAHS, your comment just came in as I was submitting mine! lol!

"Revenge is a dish best eaten cold."

That's quite a story. Better to find this stuff out before you get married, though....

She may have deserved it but the family and friends did not. Marriage is a sacred institution also, not to be entered into as an act of revenge. The pain caused to him by her (and the best man) acts is eveident by what he did, but the pain by his acts hurt many people who had nothing to do with what she and the best man did. Such a sad story. I hope he has found happiness with someone else!
