What is Green Interior Design?

With more people becoming eco-friendly in their living and more aware of the environmental concerns everyday, going green in interior design is becoming a hot topic.  Just because you are considering or wondering what it really means to go "green" with your designs doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice quality.

When you decide that you want to go green in your home plans, you are taking the traditional building, design and decorating principles and making them more eco-friendly and environmentally responsible.

Items such as paints can be used that are solvent free and environmentally sound.  Using reclaimed lumber for building materials or installing solar panels to generate more of your own electric are just a few of the ways to go green.

Green interior designers are people that have studied and learned about sustainable living options.  With knowledge and contacts in the industry, they can help you find the best ways to design a home that will make it environmentally sound, healthy and beautiful.  Just because you are going green doesn't mean that your furniture will all be junky antiques or uncomfortable.

When you decide to go green, many of the aspects of green living will come out in your design and home.  From the natural, reclaimed wood or bamboo in the floors or walls to the natural materials in your furniture, having a beautiful and environmentally friendly home is growing in popularity.
