Green Tea Pills: What's to Know?

Green tea is an ancient herbal treatment for a variety of illnesses, which was originally grown and used by the Chinese and Japanese thousands of years ago. Even then, these two cultures had discovered green teas ability to treat common issues such as headaches, and much more complex problems such as depression. Now, even with the modern advancements in technology and the biomedical field, green teahas been rediscovered because it is seemingly just as effective as many of the treatments that our modern society has to offer. Although the previous paragraph may have somewhat influenced you try it yourself, it may still be of interest to learn what forms green tea comes in. Recently there has been an explosion in the marketing of natural health supplements. Today you can pick up a pre-made green tea from your local 7 eleven, but if you want the maximum benefit that it has to offer you may want to consider taking green tea pills, which can make the whole process much more convenient than drinking tea every day.

Why Not Just Drink the Tea?

Why green tea pills, and not other forms? There are several reasons that I prefer to take pills instead of the forms that are available. The first is that it is convenient; typically I will take two pills in the morning, and one with my lunch. The reason that I avoid taking any before bedtime is that they will actually increase the rate of your metabolism, which can keep you up all night. The increase in your metabolism can be a good thing thought in a number of ways. First, it will give you more energy, without the crash that is associated with black tea or coffee. This is because green tea has only about half the amount of caffeine as regular black tea. Second, the increase in the rate of your metabolism can lead to weight loss, and for me at least, this is a welcomed side effect.

Where's the Proof?

What is the science behind the weight loss claim? Because it does not require as much processing to make green tea as does black tea, a certain chemical remains that can help aid in weight loss. The name of the chemical is catechin polyphenois and it works by teaming up with various naturally occurring chemicals in your body, which then oxidize your body's fat reserves.

Do green tea pills offer any other health benefits? Sure they do, actually there are many. The first and most significant is that green tea may actually help to prevent certain types of cancer. According to a 1994 study done by the National Cancer Institute, the consumption of green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer by almost 6% in Chinese men and women. This is a significant finding if you ask me, and it gives me hope that we are that much closer to finding a universal cancer cure.

Green Tea Pills Conclusion

Green tea pills, in conclusion, seem to offer more energy to those of us often find ourselves dragging around lunch time every day, it can give a boost to our metabolism, which can aid in weight loss, and it seems to lessen the risk of some types of cancer. I think taking green tea pills may not be such a bad idea!
