Some people love snakes others hate them with a passion. My husband falls into the later catagory. Not only does he hate them he is scared to death of them.

I remember when we lived in Florida I used to help the next door neighbor keep her yard mowed and cleaned in the back yard. There when you owned a house the taxes paid for garbage pick up and debris twice a week. I would always have to go shake the pile to be sure any snakes were chased away. The first time hubby went to put the stack out, there was a snake dangling from the end. The pile was dropped and hubby and snake went in different directions. I feared he would have a heart attack.

Living in NC while mowing the lawn one day he hit an azalea bush and a snake slithered out. He tried to get with the mower. It could have been a rattler but with the lawnmower going he wouldn't have heard the warning rattle.

One day we were walking around the backyard when I notice a long green snake weaved in the chain link fence. It was quite a ways from us, so I pointed it out to my hubby. He still didn't notice what I was pointing at. I went into the house and brought out my digital camera, took a photo and showed him the LCD photo. He went into the shed, got his weed wacker and killed the poor thing. It wasn't noticable at first, but a couple days later I found it curled up dead on the ground.
