Greenfield Village is spread out over 80 acres of land, there are 83 historic structures. The courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law is there and Thomas Edison's Menlo Park Laboratory. Visit the home of Henry Ford and a replica of the factory where his first automobiles were built. You can tour a working farm from the 1800's, the people working the farm are all volunteers and are happy to greet you and share information. You can walk through the farmhouse and watch them baking bread the old fashioned way. Next you can move on to artisans who are making pottery or blowing glass,but of course all done in the original method and with those tools. Take a walk down a main street of the past. Hat shops, a tavern, you can walk into every building.

For a nice change after walking around, you can take a ride in a model T or a horse drawn carriage. There is also a working railroad and a riverboat ride you can take. If that isn't for you, there is a beautiful old carousel from 1913, sit down relax and let your kids take a ride.There are plenty of benches and picnic areas to rest in throughout the village.

For dining there are several food stands along the way with beverages, ice cream and all kinds of goodies. If you would like to sit down to dinner they offer many nice restaurants. A 19th century tavern, and also A Taste of History, where favorite recipes of Abraham Lincoln and past presidents are served. There are also gift shops all over, but a very nice one right at the entrance, so you can go there before you leave and don't have to carry your packages around with you.

This is a full day and maybe more of activities. They offer themed events all year, at Christmas time the whole village is done up in lights. The visiting hours are very limited then but it is worth it. I highly recommend this to everyone of all ages. Please take a look at the website and make plans for a vacation to Michigan.
