Free Teen Group Activity Ideas!
Let's face it, sometimes being a teen can get pretty boring. If you're low on funds or have no money whatsoever to spend, it can be difficult to think of fun activities to do with your friends. Rest assured, you can still have lots of fun, remain entertained and develop closer relationships within your circle of friends with some of these fun activities for teenagers.
This article will give you some great ideas for group activities for teens:
- Start a Book Club
- Start a Movie Club
- Host a Yard Sale
- Volunteer as a Group for Charity
Start a Book Club for Teens
All you need is a local library and a few friends to start this up. Dependant upon your interests, pick fun book titles to read (the more mainstream your book topics are, the more teens you'll get to participate!) If your group of friends is mainly girls, pick some best selling teen novels. If your group consists of guys and girls, consider featuring books that are adaptations from the latest movies or biographies on cool celebrities. By choosing fun books like this, you'll inspire friends to read that may have not even considered picking up a book for pleasure!
After you agree upon your book of the week or month title, give your friends a week or two (it will vary due to the length of the book) and then get together at your house to eat yummy snacks and discuss the book. You could also play a game of charades that features clues from the book or even watch the movie version of the book, if it's available. Starting a book club is definitely an upcoming trend for group activities for teens.

Start a Movie Club for Teens
If getting together and discussing books is not your thing, chances are you love movies. It is really easy and tons of fun to start your own movie club! Get together at one of your friend's house (rotate every week to keep things fresh) and watch a new movie.
Here's how it works: The host gets to pick the movie and provide the refreshments. This is a great way for teens to spend a Friday night. Try to pick a theme every week and watch a movie that fits with the theme. You can get creative and design your refreshments around the movie and it's theme.
Host a Yard Sale with Other Teens
Everyone has lots of stuff that they don't want. If you went through all your possessions right now, you could definitely find at least $50 worth of goods to sell (if not more!) at a Yard or Garage Sale! You can earn lots of money for yourself or even for charity through hosting a fun yard sale with friends.
Find a friend who's parents are willing to let you host a garage/yard sale at their home. Plan at least a month in advance, advertise your yard sale in the local newspaper the week of the sale and put up fliers around the neighborhood the night before. Some areas require licenses so you can hold a yard sale, so definitely look into that at your local city hall, first! The more friends you have participating in the sale, the better. Yard sales shoppers tend to be attracted to sales that have tons of items. You'll make a lot more money by creating a huge sale to attract a larger buzz.

A really fun activity for teens that you might not expect is to volunteer together. Sometimes, volunteering alone with people you don't know can be a little bit intimidating and maybe even boring. Start up a volunteer group with a few of your friends and rotate volunteering for different charities once a month. Some great ideas are Big Brothers & Big Sisters of America, a local food bank, a political campaign or your local Humane Society.
Dependant upon your interests, there is always a fascinating volunteer opportunity for teens that is a lot of fun, not to mention it will make you and your group of friends feel great because you're helping the less fortunate out!

I can hear the teens now... (knowing I think they are great ideas).. Ahhhh, moooommmm, those are boring!! Things are really only fun for teens if they think of it all by themselves.. so how to get them to think that they thought of it first?... hmmm. Maybe lay the list somewhere obvious but you don't point it out?
Scavenger hunts are also great fun for a large group of kids. My son and his friends did one that took them from 2 in the afternoon to 10 pm cut-off then a big hot-dog/s'more feast with prizes for the winning team.. it was a scream!
