Group Costumes for Halloween
82Our costumes
I love Halloween!
I have a core group of friends that I celebrate Halloween with every year. It all started when I began working together with my friends to come up with really fun group themed costumes. We don't always have the same costume but our theme will be very tight. It all started when we were the cast of the Karate Kid. We were mostly comprised of the Cobra Kai Dojo(the bad guys), but we also had a Daniel Son and Mr. Miyagi. The costumes were a big hit and I got many random "Put him in a body bag Johnny!" shout outs. Movie casts are a great way to bring a group together for creative and fun costumes.
The next year we were the Guadalajara Chivas. These costumes allowed us to use a soccer ball as a fun prop and gave us a very different fan base of Mexican Americans. "Chivas por vida!!!!!!!!!"
The WWF costumes were deceptively our most labor intensive costumes. Each one of us had a different character with different colored wrestling briefs, wigs, accessories, boots and belts. We even got spray tans to give us a more authentic color. These costumes got a luke warm response.
The pimp suits were not worn for Halloween and were very expensive and did not garner a big response in Vegas. They are a fun low key costume that you can wear to fun events like Bay to Breakers.
The baby costumes were the easiest and a huge crowd pleaser. Everyone wanted to get their picture taken with a 6'6" baby. Our bottles were filled with Red Bull and vodka and the costumes also gave us a perfect excuse to grab random breasts and say "Ma Ma!" We could do no wrong and we had a great time. All it takes is a bonnet, bib, bottle, pacifier and a pair of depends and you're in business. This was by far our cheapest costume to date.
The Harlem Globetrotters costumes were a real challenge. That costume was researched on the internet endlessly. When we decided to go with the older style of uniform, we knew we were going to have to make everything ourselves, as it was not available for purchase. We ordered blank jerseyes and our shorts were white to begin with. One thing that always makes our costumes possible is that my friend Ian is a graphic designer. We print our custom artwork on an iron-on blanks and cut it out with xacto-knives before arranging it and ironing it on. Since we made our own jerseys, we also had the option of picking our number and names. I was #7, Tweedz. Some of our other names included Booyah, Air Rick, Bladau and my personal favorite, Pube$.We all had matching head and wrist bands, knee high red white and blue striped socks, and white converse all-stars. When we weren't showing off our amazing basketball tricks we were doing team chants like "We're not gay! We're not gay! We're not gay!...Yes we are! Yes we are!" We thought it was funny.

One year some friends and I went went out as a group of Bill Cosbys. Our costumes were flawless– Ugly sweater, dress shirt, pleated khakis, boxes of jello pudding– but our Cosby impressions were by far the most fun. Daaaaahhhhhhhh
Would love to see the baby pics.
@ davidbelden - I suggest you go as a pregnant lesbian. It's political, timely and if you let your hair grow just a little longer it'll be perfect! Happy Hallow's Eve!
@ jamestedmondson - Bill Cosby costumes are lame. But if you were Claire Huckstable(Felicia Rashad), I'd be impressed.
James, I think you'll agree no Halloween is complete without a Flavor Flav, and at least a little bit of "why on earth do I keep coming back to IV for Halloween every year, I mean its always the same, and after every year I swear its the last" kind of introspection.
I love Halloween and this hub just tripled my fun. I love your chant....I'm not gay, I'm not gay, yes I am, yes I am.....that was way soooo funny. Thanks for the laugh!
Thanks Dottie! I'm not sure everyone shares our sense of humor, but I thought it was hilarious.
