There are so many reasons that growing a vertical garden can be helpful, fun and practical.

For elderly folk, growing a vertical garden can be especially great because it makes it much easier to harvest any vegetables or fruit you may grow. The amount of stooping/bending over, etc. is dramatically reduced.

A vertical garden is an excellent idea for someone who does not have much or even any space to garden in. You can grow a vertical garden without even having a yard.

The link at the top of the article goes into much more detail about vertical gardening, tips and tools to use.

Vertical gardens can help you in making your home more attractive as well. They can be positioned so that ugly fences, chains, walls, any number of things can be hidden and only your lovely vertical garden will be seen.  Some vegetation even has lovely flowers that grow along with the food, such as certain types of pole beans.  Beautiful red flowers accompany the scarlet runner bean.
