The beauty of a rose is something to marvel at, and there are people all over that love these plants. Though they're beautiful, they are also notorious for being difficult to care for, though this is a matter of opinion. Some people will find it extremely hard, and others just take is as a chance to learn something new. So long as you learn everything that you can about the plant and do your best to care for it properly you shouldn't experience any issue.

If you want to keep your roses looking good then you're going to need to take care of your roses constantly. Yes, this might sound as if it's a little bit hard, but once you learn the proper procedures it's actually quite easy. One thing that your rose is going to require is water. This should be pretty obvious because all plants need water no matter what.

Naturally your roses are going to look great as long as you keep them watered, and by keeping them watered we mean you should provide them with one inch every week. The roses have roots that go deep, and this is why they're able to survive the most severe of droughts.

Make sure that you are watering the roots during your care of the plant so that they will indeed grow that deep. If you just water lightly then the roots won't grow deep enough and at the first sign of a drought they will wither and die.

Fertilizing is very important because if you do it right then you can go several years without actually feeding your rose. The soil is very important here, and plants need nutrients that are created by the soil's nutrients. Man-made fertilizers are a bad idea in this case because if you do it too much then your plants will become dependent on it, and that means you'll have to constantly buy it for them in order to keep them healthy.

Slow release fertilizer is great during the beginning of spring when your roses are just waking up after a long winter. When the blooms are gone you can apply this fertilizer. Pay mind not to do this following the middle of summer however.

You can feel free to use either inorganic or organic fertilizers. If you do decide to use organic then you're going to come across another benefit that you may not have expected. The organic fertilizer will be absorbed by the bacteria within the soil, and your soil will then be fertile for the foreseeable future. To get the best results use 5-10-5 or 4-8-4.

Pruning is yet another part of maintaining a successful rosebush. Normally you'll want to do this in the springtime right after winter when the roses awaken from their slumber. The purpose behind this is to rid them of dead or diseased wood, and also to give them addition space so air can move around them.

Another reason of course is to shape your plants in the way that you see fit. There's a lot more that you need to do when your plant has bloomed of of course. If you keep pruning at the right times, then the flower will grow and prosper.

It's not an easy task, taking care of roses. A lot of time will be invested, as well as quite a bit of knowledge. If you can get the hang of this though, then it will show in your plants. Many people will see them and compliment you on your brilliance. Now isn't that worth the trouble?
