Fun with Growing and Harvesting Watermelon

Growing watermelon is fun, each watermelon contains much Vitamines and also juicy.Watermelon is delicious summertime treats. There many variety of watermelons such as red flesh, yellow flesh and one of my favourite seedless watermelons. the size vary too, from giant Charleston grey ( up to 25 pouns) to small sugar baby as little as 6 pounds.Watermelon need a little bite of moisture at all time along with regular feeding, and grow best on sandly loam soil with teperatures between 70-86 F. The seeds need to be planted on rich sunshine location, this keep the seed growth well. Planting using black plastic mulch will help warm the soil. And sometimes south facing slope is good idea to protected the seeds from chilly winds and get better air circulation, this help to minimize the deseases.

Watermelon need more and intensive feeders. And the ideal fertilizer when using black plastic mulch is, 1 pound of Nitrogen, 2 pounds of Phosporus, and 3 pounds of Potash per 1000 feet, and best growth in a pH between 6.0-6.8.

When harvesting time come, many gardener have trouble when to harvest watermelon and this is need some expereinces. We need to focus our sense combine with sight, sound and touch to get the good ripe watermelons. The sign of maturity is undeside of watermelons where it lay down on the groun will turn gold color, and the curly tendril dry out and become britle.
