Guardian Angel In My Entry
54Do Ghosts Exist?
Recently, I purchased an old Victorian era home that is approximately 106 years old. The home is quaint, and not overly spacious, but it has curb appeal that does not quit! It sits back from the road a bit, giving it a tucked-in feel. It is the perfect house for me, with the little extra gingerbread touches, red-orange brick, original hardwood floors, and antique lacy white curtains.
The home is registered as being "historical." A small placard attests to the special nature of the home, and gives a brief history of past inhabitants. Originally purchased by a woman real estate investor (I imagine her to be very progressive for the then-times), the home was rented to a couple who stayed for approximately forty years. They did eventually purchase the home, and went on to raise their children, and finally, they died in the home.
One day, I was lazily draped across the purple sofa in the sitting room, listening to my good friend as she spoke to the beauty of the room. All at once, a fast moving wave of energy washed over me and I gasped an audible breath, and lept from the couch. At that exact moment, my friend stood and gasped and said, "Oh my. Did you feel that?" We clearly both felt the energy exchange. It wasn't a dark or scary happening. It was simply an entity wishing to be noticed.
When the hairs on the back of my neck finally went back down, my friend and I discussed what we thought about the rush that had come through the room. I don't know how to say that I "know" who it was. But I do know. We knew. It was George.
George and Mary had been the couple that loved and nurtured and added and extended and landscaped and cared for the little house that I bought. They would surely be happy that it is preserved by its status as "historical." I think that George (when he was alive, in the flesh) probably stood at the entry looking out at the astonishing view of the city, a city that most certainly has grown since his time here on earth. I think George still hangs out in that entry.
It feels to me that George is quite happy. I believe he enjoys the energies of my little grand daughters as they bounce through the house filling it with love and song and laughter and yes, occasionally, attitude.
It warms my heart to feel that George stands as a sentry in the entry, watching out at the view, and standing watch over us.
I hope he stays another 100 years!
