Guitar Hero Guitars

Guitar Hero is one of the most popular music video games on the market today. Wannabee rock stars and also accomplished guitarists are all having a great time trying to beat Slash at his own game.

The game is played by using a Guitar Hero guitar also called a controller and trying to play the correct notes as they scroll by on the screen. You must not only play the correct notes (by pushing buttons on the guitar neck) but they must also be played in time with the music in order to score points.

Playing notes on a Guitar Hero guitar consists of pressing the correct fret button (there are five) and strumming the strum bar. You sustain notes by pressing down a button and holding. You play chords by holding multiple buttons down. You can also simulate hammer-ons and pull-offs (on a real guitar, you do this by plucking the first note and then hammering down a note or pulling off to another note with the left-hand only).

There are numerous types of Guitar Hero guitars or controllers.

Wireless controllers shaped like the ever-popular Gibson Les Paul (PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360) and Kramer (PlayStation 2) models are also available. These guitars have detachable faceplates that allow players to customize their guitar.

The new guitars also feature detachable necks for easy transport.
