Acoustic Guitar Lesson

Here is a short video that teaches how to play the intro to the Sugarloaf classic rock tune Green Eyed Lady. The original featured keyboards and bass at the beginning but this arrangement plays a the different parts as a guitar solo.

It starts with a 6-note chromatic scale from F# to B, then continues from D to E, before adding a couple of punctuations on the high E string which were originally done by the lead guitar. This is followed by a section where you pinch a melody note with your right hand 2nd finger while you hit a bass note with the pick. There are 5 of these before the same lick is then played again but with a different last note on the high E, followed by a jazzy strum across an Em7 chord barred at the 7th fret.

Finally the riff that defines the song sneaks in underneath the ringing chord. Following is a video showing you how it's done. Here is a link to the TAB.

Lyrics

Green Eyed Lady lovely lady, strolling slowly towards the sun.

Green Eyed Lady ocean lady, soothing every wave that comes.

Green Eyed Lady passions lady, dressed in love she lives for life to be.

Green Eyed Lady feels like I never see, setting sons and lonely lovers free.
