It was in my face everywhere I went. Even printed on t-shirts displayed in local shopping centers. Ah yes, the infamous game being played by young and old aspiring rockstars across the nation; Guitar hero!!

My girlfriend is strung out on the game. It torments her every waking hour; she gets the sweats and heavy convulsions within only a couple hours of withdrawls. She's a junkie in every horribly possible way..I see her going about her day pretending as if shes not distracted... I know somewhere in the back of her head, riffs from "sweet child of mine" and "Cherry pie" are being played out. I visualize her mind at work, calculating her next best combinations of simulating real guitar playing.. She sits alone at home, telling herself "no, I shouldn't, No I won't" or" Maybe in 10 minutes" But, she can never last those long agonizing minutes. She's nearly doubled over, every vital organ in her body feeling as if its having the life squeezed outta them... She craves her fix, her fix of hammering away on tacky colorful buttons serving as notes while situated upon cheap plastic, roughly molded into a poor imitation of a guitar. Those eyes don't lie; They're screaming out "PUT ME IN A TRANCE MAN!!" Yes, you see, a trance somehow penetrates every layer of her sub-concious, totally messing her up. She wants to be lost in strange virtual world where shes the god damn rock goddess.

So, whats the big buzz all about??

Well, if gamers are anything like me, they crave that rockstar status! I know whenever I see Joan Jett or Jimi Hendrix working their magic, attracting those groupies, i hear that lil voice inside my head saying

"Hell yeah, that would be the life"

Considering I lack true talent to make it my life, well, I can always pretend! At least thats what Guitar Hero offers me.

With the ability to create my own character and chose my guitar, I play note by note legendary rock songs! And the graphics are amazing! Right there on my TV screen is a stage graced with A guitarist, a drummer and bassist.

No wonder so many games are being made all the time. Not only can you experience the thrills of Guitar hero 1, but there is now 2 and 3 as well as Guitar Hero Rock the 80's and even Guitar hero Mobile so you can play on the go. And now you can play these games on Playstation 2, Playstation 3, xbox 360 and Nintendo's wii.

Ahh... Good ol guitar Hero, the closest I'll get to being a rockstar in this lifetime. Lets just hope all this practice will set me up for my next life!
