Objects of Art and Desire

As a woman "of a certain age", I can truly appreciate the value of antique pieces that grow more beautiful over time. It wasn't until my late twenties that I understood the allure of going antiquing. I lived in New York, and the antique offerings were overwhelmingly vast. At the time, everyone I knew owned at least one blue mirrored, art deco vanity or end table, and my first shopping forays led me to the weekend antique flea market on Avenue of the Americas urban hunting for furniture vintage trendy. My early thirties took me to the towns surrounding Woodstock, as well as into Connecticut, looking for stately desks and estate jewelry. Over the rivers and through the woods, riding the rails - actually in first class on Amtrack - I seeked out first editions to fill my loft's bookshelves. No more decades to mention... but now I live in Miami and here, antiques abound, especially those that evoke early 20th century European parlors, art deco lobbies and mid century modern lounges. While I still enjoy the musty, dusty scent of antique shops and emporiums, I am more likely to troll through cyberspace in search of treasures, and here, I share them with you.*

*I can vouch for my own authenticity. It's up to you to evaluate any item you may purchase.
